So after reading the bible, I learn that baby Jesus is a bad motherfu...shut your mouth

If god is the good guy then why does he kill more than 20,000 people in the bible? Satan only kills about 20, which seems to make him 1000 times better than god.

Also, it would be just like the plan of an evil one to try to convince you that they are actually the good guy ( and god has certainly convinced alot of people

So could it be that the satanists are actually the good ones, and we have been duped by god, with the promises of heaven (just like muslims are tempted to heaven by the 40 virgins)

I need to stop drinking this 40oz old English

Religion is a killing machine. Take the Crusades for example. Christians fighting Muslims over the "Holy Land." Ok, sounds like it was necessary. Cant be having someone with a different religion living in a region mentioned in religious texts.

I THINK death is a tool for us to learn how valuable life is and how easily it can be taken away.
Make the best of it, yall.
It's not difficult to be better people, so it's a shame that there are still so many bad ones.

Jesus never killed anyone. Captial G God did, the Old Testament fuck your shit up God.

The New Testament is all about peace, love, and being magic hippies.

To be fair it's mostly the Angels that did all the killing.

Jesus and God are two different beings, Jesus killed no one,,,and God and Nature are one, i mean They both work on the same laws...,but facts can be argued...beliefs can't. give me the entire 200+ books in the scriptures and maybe the 66 we have given may make sense...goodnight

this is a great thread. props o.p. lol

if you think about it... religion as an institution... is the GREATEST pyramid scheme ever... anyone notice that since i believe the 1500's (correct date if im wrong) has been the SINGLE greatest land owner in the world to this day! for example. if a church is comprised of 1,000 devoted adult members thats $1,000+ dollars for that church alone. plus all others in that town, then multiply that by how many in the county, then the state, then country, then ultimantly the world....why do you think the vatican is its own independent country(or whatever the correct term is)...no taxes...

ANYWAYS back to the death thing...(i apologize for the rant)

god is a funny guy... gives man the ability to do whatever the hell he wants.. but immediatly says "RAWR dont do that because i said so even though technically you can" long story short.... a few books later... he saves noah, his wife, his three sons, and their wives, and KILLS EVERYONE ELSE... lol rather amusing if you think about it... and gives a rainbow promise that he will never do it again.

this statement is great

"Jesus never killed anyone. Captial G God did, the Old Testament fuck your shit up God.

The New Testament is all about peace, love, and being magic hippies.

its true... God gets nasty, if you fuck with him... he just sits there and basically says "GET SOME" and throws a world flood, or an angel of death, or the book of revelation at you!

dont get me wrong im not anti-god in anyway. to support something you MUST know the side of those who try to tear you down. and stand firm. but im GLAD this topic was brought up!

anyway if you read my post i say that god was the one that was killing all those people:rl:. but jesus is god only son, so if your dad is a killer and you love him so much that your even accept to die for him...yes jesus die becouse hes dad told him to, he didnt die becouse of our sins..
oh wait if god love us so much why he didnt come here and die instead of sending hes son to do it for him...
satan was an angel one of the best angel i must add, after witnessing what god hes boss was doin to all the people in heart even hes only son jesus, he decide to come to heart and save us, but god was like no way no you satan your goin to be the bad guy for betraying me, remember god had a bigger army

Religion is not bad in and of itself. People are bad. And people can take any seemingly good thing and use it against others.

Basis of any (edit) REAL (/edit) religion: Be a good person

Then people fill in the rest to say "your a good person only if you follow so and so" and all Hell breaks loose, if you'll forgive the pun. If people were a little more accepting, no problems. But every holy book was written by men with agendas, and thats where the problem lies.

I doubt God has ever killed anyone just for shits and grins. People are more than capable of doing that, and saying that they do it in God's name just makes it easier.

I would expect a comment like that from a religous fanatic (but being pro religion not anti) Just goes to show that athiests and fantics can both be on the same level of the asshole scale.

not exactly. And I'm not exactly athiests either. I do understand that there's stuff I don't know and we'll never know but what I DO know is that people who claim they know know the least. They're the most closed minded of all because they can't even admit that they don't know everything because, you see, they already know what to expect.
And after I wrote the word "idiots" it was a little harse from how I was actually feeling. The word "close minded" is a little closer.
But that's America. I will continue to fight for you to have the right to practice a religion that I don't believe in.

George Carlin said it best...

When it comes to bullshit, big-time, major league bullshit, you have to stand in awe of the all-time champion of false promises and exaggerated claims, religion. No contest. No contest. Religion. Religion easily has the greatest bullshit story ever told. Think about it. Religion has actually convinced people that there's an invisible man living in the sky who watches everything you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever 'til the end of time!
But He loves you. He loves you, and He needs money! He always needs money! He's all-powerful, all-perfect, all-knowing, and all-wise, somehow just can't handle money! Religion takes in billions of dollars, they pay no taxes, and they always need a little more. Now, you talk about a good bullshit story. Holy Shit!

I'm sorry but I find so many flaws with religion... The G-man killing so many people being one of those flaws.

Jesus is not a killing Machine... Neither is GOD... Man has ' Free Will ' to do on to other's as they see fit..

Man has killed in the name of GOD, Just has Man have killed in the name of Satan, did GOD or Satan make them do it? Probly not.. Have they seen and/or heard the voice of GOD? Maybe.. But the SON of SAM thought a Dog was giving him Order's to kill people... So we can pretty much conclude that Hallucinations and paranoid schizophrenia is not something of the New.. and has legs that spread far into history as well as spanning far into our future..

I believe that religion is just a different form of government... Now when it was created it may had have the Best of Intentions for building a ' Faith ' of some sorts, but as man has Proved time and time again, Everything can be twisted into a War/Control Platform.

It's your choice with ' Free Will ' to believe in what you want or not believe at all..

That's just my :2c:

It's not that ppl are bad.
It's just that religion sets unrealistic expectations to human nature.

Man is the killing machine, man is the liar, man rewrites stuff to influence man. Man warps what other men and even what God might have said if it suits him.

In others its on us. We are the ones that need to try and do right and we are the ones that are not perfect. We are human bound to make mistakes and act irrationally from time to time. If we can recognize that we can try to make ourselves better. We are not perfect though, and if we judge others we are just as bad as the people we judge and we usually do that. LOL
In others just don't assume shit and you might be better off. Oh and yes we all assume as well.

'Covet' just means to desire something.
Sex is purely optional.
For instance, glancing at your neighbor's wife's ass might fit the criterion.
I see no harm as long as it's not blatant & rude, but the 10 Commandments dissaprove.

You also cannot covet the neighbor's property,
so no oogling at the neighbors Porsche, lawn ornaments, or whatever.

Fortunately, neighbor's daughter isn't off limits (if you are single yourself).

covet - Definition from the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/covet)

Main Entry: cov·et
Pronunciation: \ˈkə-vət\
Function: verb

transitive verb
1 : to wish for earnestly <covet an award>
2 : to desire (what belongs to another) inordinately or culpably
intransitive verb
: to feel inordinate desire for what belongs to another

No not really because we are expected to sin. We are not perfect. God forgives if we realize our mistakes and try to correct them. In a Biblical sense.

Of course these are also somewhat of universal truths. Fact is, man is not perfect and does sin. Fact is, if you have a sense of guilt or regret for the sin or mistake and strive to change, it shows you want to be better. In effect you save yourself.
For the people that don't believe in God for the people who do you are trying so God forgives and if you believe in Jesus it just reinforces that belief of forgiveness on Gods part.

oh and I am sure your statement might have been in jest, but none the less given this discussion felt I would expound on it. LOL

if u want to understand more of wat "GOD" is, u have to realize that its not some guy on a cloud,,,,in the BIBLE it learns u that GOD is in u, so is heaven....and as it was stated previously, man has the free will,,,,you can choose to flex the GOD within u or the evil within you,,,you have the option,,,but u will get your “come uppin's,” GOD is mentioned in the BIBLE as creating the good and the evil, its called duality (some people call it the big bang, some say in the beginning), they work together, and everything is a part of nature so it operates on nature, mathematics and science, math is science,,,,it sounds a bit esoteric, however when u have been raised in christianity, especially since birth you will realize, how a lot of the figures and stories in the BIBLE are figurative,,,,because the same story that may appear as GOD talking to man, can be found in other scripts as a man, meditating and talking within his self, finding the truth, and when the story is handed down, its GOD such and such, dont get me wrong, i wont take away from someones beliefs, because u cant u argue beliefs(1. Because I share the same), but when u go to church they teach you that you should look within yourself and pray, and that the decision is within you, but want you to believe that the same people in the BIble saw and dealt with the same scenarios differently somehow.....Its mental yes, because my friends went through trances, and experienced near death feats, and saw spirits, but not only christians go through it......like i mentioned before the commandments work on the laws of nature....when u steal something from someone, (i.e. there life, there wife, there livelihood) instinctively you will notice how men tend to react a little "animalistic," thats how we are the same, the ways we are different is the GOD aspect, because we can manipulate nature, but notice when we do, how it “messes” you over, with the first part of the commandments obey your god serve, yada, theres no way around it, you have to realize that there is a creator, and all this nothingness found in space, the ever expanding universe, is apart of HIM, or HER, im not necessarily looking at it as gender, but moreso the greater purpose, and how we should realize that all our differences are actually similarities, You may study religion, and one thing u just might notice, is that the creation epic is so similar, I couldn’t tell you which one(s) is true I didn’t write nor was I there, but peep this there is record of said event found in nature, some people say that it’s a mountain of lies, however true that may be, its underneath the same truth, because what happens when we keep coming to something that appears untrue, we forsake it altogether…..many philosophies teach this, one being the bible saying how the devil will seek to destroy/ deceive the whole world…..if u look at it in the broad sense, he doesn’t have any power but to come at u, not physically of course, but mentally and “entice” you, kinda like jesus was said to have the devil come up to him and offer him the whole world, but there isn’t a version that says that jesus was in himself saying that, man I can have all this (what we see as pride), well one reason is that they try to let u know that jesus is god, which is iffy when u consider the fact that evil cant tempt good, nor will good tempt evil…..God cannot be tempted nor does he tempt, so how can u tempt jesus, if some people say that he is god, or is he a god?? Regardless of all the signs that tell us to look within we consistently go against nature and hope for someone else to fix us, when the same bible says you have to do it….because the answer lies inside you,,,,seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened, search and it shall be made known to you….Buddha has a similar story, he was a prince, gave up his royalty, to seek truth, after being confined within his fathers kingdom, he escaped to see the outside world and after coming upon someone who was poor, he went into depression, and sought after a deeper meaning to his own existence… even unto his 30’s and 40’s he was seeking, until he reached extreme asceticism, that’s the same philosophy as jesus telling u to forsake the things of this world….Rastafarians learn you this, muslims learn you this, yet we as a people make gods out of things, we focus on inanimate objects, that don’t move and can’t love, trying to play god, rather than focusing on our higher plane that would put us in line with the Most High, no one man is an expert but even Solomon expounded on our natural instincts…. We are the same then and today, the spirit u utilize here will reflect the opposite energy given back to you afterword. Wat fairer reward, but then again its just a general philosophy, if u search for ur own identity I bet u will be fairly surprised at wat you find (God has given to you)

tl;dr

Why do you capitalize every letter in God and bible?

I respect your opinion. You know that the bible isn't the "literal" word of God. Im not an unreligous man, but I don't think God would really appreciate people taking the bible, and saying "your a sinner, you're going to hell" and "Im better than you because I go to church and read the bible"

The bible: Written by men
Men: naturally lie, cheat and steal to control their lives
lying, cheating, stealing: Sins

You should be a good person to make the world better. Accept everyone for who they are. I don't think it matters what you believe in. If your a good person, and there is a Heaven, then you'll get in. Not if you do good to get into heaven, thats being selfish, and God doesn't like selfish people. I think that the whole "Only if you know Jesus will you go to Heaven" bull shit is just that: bullshit.

Please, please please, can you punctuate your written statements better?
Its annoyingly impossible to read without punctuation. In fact, I gave up after a few lines. Though from what I did attempt to read before it made my brain hurt, was that you are on the right track.

I mentioned this book before, not sure if was in this thread or another, "God according to God". It really clears up a lot of peoples misconceptions due to peoples misinterpretations of the Bible. The guy who wrote is a Physicist.

Oh and to answer drift and draggs question about hardcore bible thumpers. In a sense Jesus did encourage the spreading of the word. There is a good way for someone to do this and a bad way.
The good way is to gauge if someone is receptive to your views and then if they are discuss with them. If they are not move on.

The people that sit there and say I am saved you are not are judging and according to the book they carry that is a no no. Lest not judge lest ye be judged thyself.

I also do not agree with its my religion or your not saved, that just makes no sense whatsoever. What about the people on the Pacific Island that have never heard of Jesus or a Western or Eastern religion are they condemned? I don't think so.
In fact I think if they follow the universal truths and try to be good people then they are fine.

They have the natural state while we are in the unnatural condition and we should be following them in all honesty.....UNtil you have actually have sat down and studied the Bible itself, and reviewed the etymology of the words, and the concordance to it, then like i tell everyone dont, speak upon it. For your views may be centered around commercialized Christianity, and has nothing to do with someones spiritual side/beliefs, or there knowledge to the subject. I can't speak upon something that i havent reviewed myself, law teaches you this

Nothing personal here, but what you do write above is pretty damn judgmental.

How do you know I have not studied the bible, just because I draw different conclusions from my possible study of it? Or is my not agreeing with everything that is written in it, or feeling it has been misinterpreted?

Just because I do not agree with you on the interpretation of certain areas of the bible does not mean I have not studied it.
For you to accuse my views of possibly being centered around commercialized Christianity is rather bold statement on your part. You do not know me, you do not know what spiritual books I have studied.
I suggest you step back from evangelical bible thumping prose and realize that you do hold the patent on the study of the bible or interpretation of it. In fact I suggest you read a book called "God according to God" to get a clearer conception yourself of what you call my possible misinterpretation of the bible.

Sorry I had too.. After what I read, and a very good point i might add, that part was funny... Because that is pretty much what it is sounding like.

Step off your box for just a second JesusFreakDrifter and realize that some people and there views are different and in no way can you make a judgment on a person for information you do not know, about said person.

On that note, Judgment, if YOU properly read the bible, and so interned understood its words to the extent of Holiness, you would understand that you are not suppose to base judgment on anyone. You are but a humble vessel to help spread the word. Not pass Judgment on someone for a different view.

No one person views the same sentence as the same and before you fall from your mighty horse, maybe you should take a second and realize other people may have just as much knowledge, or more, in the same or similar subject.

Rant Over..... :coold:

This is why your lack of study possibly could fail you. I will suggest a book I have mentioned many times previous to this, its called "God according to God" it was written by a physicist.

It proves God and Science can coexist and that people misinterpret wording in the bible. Science is not a lie and true theologians do not consider it a lie.

In fact they are Scientists cited in the book that were atheists, till there own scientific theories proven, proved the existence of something greater than all.

Its all very fascinating and a good read, with lots of facts followed by reference data to back stuff up.

In fact they are Scientists cited in the book that were atheists, till there own scientific theories proven, proved the existence of something greater than all.

i will pick up that book and give it a read...

Hmm... Been a while since I've read anything religious. I've read the Qu'ran translated into english, which apparently is a big no no lol. The bible a couple of times. Maybe time for something a little more contemporary.

He isnt a killin machine we all have free will t what we want to do in life.

therefor there is no such thing as jesus or religion. srry

its our stupid choices that gets us killd. Even in the "wrong place and the wrong time" situations, bc we choose to go that way or make that turn or walk that way ect. shit happends we have nothing to blame but our selfs.

hopefully u dont get the name jesusfreak drifter twisted and make all kinds of assumptions, as a matter of fact, dont take it into consideration when reading wat i posted. the only reason i still have it, was thinking about changing it, is because it sparks conversation sometime, and its always good to reason with other beings, cuz im no teacher or master, but rather a student, like all of us, and we learn from each other, because i may something that can help you grow and vice versa.
drift freaq, that, "you," was more general than pointing a finger at someone i have never met or had a conversation with. I try my best not to pass judgement at all so i choose my words carefully, maybe i should have used correct punctuation this time, didnt mean for it to come off like that.
As a matter of fact i agree with your statement fully that not only can God and science coexist but rather, need each other. For science proves what God may have been saying based on interpretations not only to the bible or any other script, but by nature itself, and God is the greatest scientist. The Bible embodies many metaphors, in stories that should not be taken literally. The bible has nothing to do with religion at all, PERIOD!
As i am studying more i have come to Overstand that the book known as the Bible seems just a bit astrological than anything else. Is that the end all be all because some nobody named with a UN JesusFreakDrifter says so, Hell no... Who am I to say i have the infinite truth? I am a student of many schools, and christianity was one of them, because , like many other religions, it taught me about restraint and tolerance. Having and maintaining a discipline, so if you see someone who says they are a christian, or they may appear to be an over zealous christian, it is because they have landed upon something that they may not have had in their lives prior to being such. But on the other hand saying that i say the word bitch, fuck, shit,(hopefully you're not judging me now) and so forth and so on, will send me to hell is beyond what the BIBLE ever states. The stories are all similar, be with a righteous and pure spirit, or what is known as good or positive energy or karma, And realize that there is a creator greater than you, because you(general), are nothing, and need to understand that you(general) are no better than the next man, so kill that im better than everyone mentality.
If you look at the format of the BIBLE you will notice that its like a movie sort of. You're a child and you're being regailed by stories of wisdom, pride, deceit, mercy, vengeance, righteousness and chastity, to help you grow into a righteous being, because before a lot of stories were written down, they were orally told and passed down from generation to generation. Upon studying tribal people you notice how, they live a lot purer than we ever did; we may have variables that affect us differently then them, but that aside we are the same, yet we may call them savages.
dont want to get into a heated debate, because everyone thinks they know about the absolute and finite truth. Christians feel this way, atheists, so on and so forth, but when we realize that we know absolutely nothing at all, only then shall we understand life itself and be able to maintain and coexist amongst each other peacefully, thats wat GOD wants, he didnt want the division that we have, only if we could erase the things that separate us, and pencil in those things that bring us together...Peace, HOTEP, SHALOM, ASALAMAKIM, ASHEE, so on and so on

Religion is the opiate of the masses.

It's funny, but the vast majority of religious people in the world are "people of the book" aka judaism, christianity, and islam.

These 3 started small and slowly conquered what was paganism at the time. But the pagans incorporated a lot of their crap unto these religions and permanently tainted/perverted them.

You go to the middle east, afghanistan...whatever...these people don't know or understand or read the quran...they are simply spoon fed ritualistic dark age pagan shit that is passed off as islam by the local Mullah.

They are about as Muslim as a Modern day American is Christian.

This crap goes on all around the world. Everyone is pretending to be religious, and it's just plain disingenuous.

I
It's just that religion sets unrealistic expectations to human nature.

"Thy shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife!!" (or whatever the Bible commands)

Easier said than done.

now consider 50% of all marriages end in divorce, by human laws that woman is free to sleep with... but morally, you are still doing someones wife. Hence why religon promotes not having sex before you get married...

..Translation... dont fuck someone you wouldnt want to spend the rest of your life with you whore, you'll probably get aids, or some bitches husband will murder you and its bad for the community.

I consider myself Christian, and i've had a lot of sex with a few different girls, but each one of them I would have gone the distance with. Therefore I feel I did my part.

as for the unrealistic goals, whats so unrealistic? New testiment says you are a sinner, it just wants you to make the most and you'll probably come out on top.
