View Full Version : Is this a ok way to run vacuum lines?

Im trying to get rid of a few lines running across my valve cover. I was thinking of putting some barb fittings and running the lines off my hot pipe. Would this work? Blue squares are the fittings.

The wastegate is ok. The wastegate opens when boost pressure reaches a maximum ceiling. Running the signal from the hotpipe will limit boost a little bit compared to the coldpipe, but it's ok. Just run a boost gauge and controller and fine-tune the boost and you'll be ok.

The compressor bypass valve (CBV) or blow-off valve (BOV) needs to see vacuum after the throttle. If there is a difference between boost in the charged pipe and the the throttle, the CBV/BOV opens and prevents compressor surge when the charged air bounces around the charged pipe.

Think about it. If you put the CBV/BOV to the hotpipe, the pressure will always be the SAME, and the CBV/BOV will never open.

At that point you may as well remove the CBV/BOV and weld the flange shut.

The CBV/BOV needs to go the throttle body, or just run nothing at all.

Why do you want to run them from your hotpipe and not your manifold??

Wastgate is best run straight from the turbo.

connect the waste gate as close as possible to the turbo outlet(will run the factory boost setting about 7psi iirc) and run the bov to the throttle body, there are 2 hose connections on the top one that goes to the FPR(fuel pressure regulator) and another one that has nothing on it, connect it to that, you can connect your boost gauge to another nipple(kinda how the wastegate is hooked up in your diagram) just dont tap into the wastegate...

Thanks for the well explained answer. I'm just trying to clean up the bay a little bit. So i'm going to add one nipple on the hot pipe for the wastegate.

There are different mounting options for the wastegate source. I recommended the coldpipe because this is the factory mounting.
