I finaly found a 240 that i like it's the base model but i think it has lots of potential!!! I intrested in your ideas on where i should go with it first? the only thing after market it has on it is an cold air intake. i have an extra 1000 now what can i do to get some more preformance out of it? in febuary i plan on puting a body kit, paint and the 5 lug conversion and the summer of 2005 i will take it somewhere (texas ??) and have the engine swap done ( i don't have the time to do it myself becasue i go to the air force academy and that will be the only time i will have the time to do the engine swap). Let me know what you think! i will be in texas (Lackland AFB) for 6 weeks this summer if there are any good shops around there let me know i will swing by. Lates

why not spend that 1000 on gas, oil changes, and whatever might go wrong on the car. i dont understand why people have to spend all their money on performance and have no money for gas.

Save the money if thats all you got. Thats how much you should set aside for tires, repairs, unexpected stuff like crashes or blown motors

what kind of fun? stoplight racing? Drag strip? auto-x? track days??

Where your mods should start depends on what you wanna do with the car.

For now just dogging my roomates 2001 integra once i graduate then i think it's going to be come a trailer queen and a weekend driver. I think im going to put an catback system on it and get the crusie control fixed for now untill i get to texas this summer then see where it goes from there.

it will take more than $1000 to "dodge" a 2001 integra. and even if you do spend all that money, he will be laughing at you when you blow a tire and have no money fix it. leave it stock unless you have alot of spare cash. even $1000 is not alot of money to have set aside for emergencies. a stock 240sx is just fine, it handles good and has ok power.

No matter what you do, I would recommend you do a FULL tune-up on the car before anything. If it has 100K+ miles on it, expect the Starter, and/or alternator to die in the near future as well, and make sure you have enough backup money to fix them when they do. Otherwise your walking for a little while.

KA's don't have the NA potential of a B series honda engine. your looking at MAX 160-170whp with all bolt ons, and cams, and s-afc.. stock they put down ~120-140whp depending on age and health.

Exhausts typically run $400-600
intakes are about $250
Header is about $350

That will net you about 15whp extra...

If your planning to swap, Get a nice exhaust thats 80mm.. get a silencer for it (cause it'll be load while your NA), and get a cone filter for your stock intake piping. Maybe hook up some sway bars if your into handling. That will put you near $1000.

That of course will only get you MAYBE 5-10whp, but your car will sound Much better.

heres where i started.....

first: i had all the fluids hoses and filters changed and had my car looked over for any major problems...
my problems were:beat *** clutch and vibration in the driveshaft.

from there my clutch basically fried out so i had that replaced and as for my driveshaft well i busted the u joint two weeks ago and i am taking this oppertunity to replace it with the enjuku aluminium onepiece shaft (which i will post pics of the install when i am done)...i should have listend to the shop and gotten these parts replaced instead of spending the money on other less important ****.

what i am trying to get at is that before you go tuning it for performance in any respect (drag autox or whatever) go for over all strength...replace all of your old worn out parts with newer and preferabally stronger than stock ones, this is my current tuning direction...my next mods will be exhauset (muffler is rusting and rattling) and suspension component and bushing replacements

I would put a long hold on the bodykit..Yeah it's fun searching the net for bodykits and it's tempting to buy. If you buy a kit too early, you got no performance to back up the looks like a lot of ricers. Then you got a car that looks fast but not.
