whats rod knock?

i searched and it came out with nothing. i had a earlier post about what my car was doin and what the problem could be, and some1 told me it could be rod knock.

what exactly is rod knock?

what do i need 2 do to see if i have that problem?

could that cause the car to run rich?

Rod knock. Thunk thunk thunk... and it gets faster as the rpms increase.
Wont cause you to run rich. Causes catastrophic engine damage. Check your oil for metal flakes for rod knock.

ok thanks, but could you explain to me exactly what happends with rod knock? im trying to picture what goin on inside my engine. ill check my oil tomorow if i have time. but now im thinking its not rod knock since its not a clunking sound. its more of a, well i dunno how 2 describe it. its kinda like metal scraping against metal. the sound does chang according the the revs though. im really hoping its not rod knock cuz it sounds really bad.:(

Rod knock goes clackity clack. It's when your rod bearings go bad from things like lack of oil or dirty oil and there's metal on metal contact which = bad news.
