Sportlines, and whitelines are not stiff enough for me, prokits and H&R's do not drop my car enough. I track my car a few times a month and am willing to sacrifice ride quallity for performance. I want a stiff spring with a 2" drop, and I have KYB AGX's in the mail as we speak. I was looking at Intrax super sports wich drop my car 2" in the rear, and 2.25" in the front, but I cant find spring rates for them. If anyone can compare them to sportlines, give me there spring rates, or simply point me in the right direction that would be much appreciated. (p.s. I can not afford coil overs but would not mind having some custom specked springs made, but I can not find any company that can do that for me other than ground control (wich as of now is probably my best option) by the way I have an 89 240sx FB.

stiffest springs not custom made I've seen would be KG/mm race springs, but most companys don't sell/ import them. They only do DR or SR21's AFAIK.

Sportlines are progressive, and to find the rates just do a search for "spring rates" or something. I posted a LOT of rates not too long ago.

Ground Control springs would be the stiffest possible, since you can order them in any rate you want.

With stiff springs you might want something other than agx, like koni. Maybe you could get the agx's revalved.

nah, the AGX's can handle that. my friend has 8/7 spring rates on his AGX's and hes had them for over a year. still dampening well...

I was also thinking the kyb's might not be up to the task of such stiff springs...

best way to double check would be to call em and ask.

RS-R race springs for $289 + shipping is kinda steep. Plus they only lower my car 1.3" in the rear. <(from what I was told on another forum, is that correct?) Is there anyone else that offers RS-R's for less? I like the spring rates, but I would like to lower my car more than 1.3 in the rear, and I already have the KYB's, they just came in the mail.

KYB will handle a spring up to 50% stiffer than stock.. I dunno what stock rate is for the S14s though... I gotta find that out. :)

Are you refering to the rs-r down springs or race springs? Also where on their site are the spring rates listed?

they dont list it

i asked them (i know RS*R usa personally)
and the rates he told me was:

S13: F)5.00 R)4.50

S14 F)5.00 R)4.20

that was the hard down springs...i dont know about race ones, i'll find out later. dont really care.

OK, we need to have a little chat here. You can't have everything you want.

First, you say you want stiff. Stiff = money, because stiff means "RACE READY". Then you say that's too expensive...so get a mainstream spring for cheap. Also, low does not generally mean stiff. And too low means bad handling, which does not mean "RACE READY"...do you see the contradiction? A well designed track spring takes into account all the suspension geometry variables, the characteristics of the car, and the desired suspension dynamics.

If you want low, go low, get some type of "down" springs. There are lots.

If you want stiff, get the RS-Rs and pay the money.

If you want cheap, get out the grinding wheel and cut the **** you already have. It will suck, but it'll be cheap!

Oh, one more thing...stiff springs don't automatically mean good handling. They just mean STIFF, JARRING ride. Is this really what you want? These are all things you need to consider.
