View Full Version : A (different?) won't start SR?

So my redtop SR's waterpump started going bad (leaking through weephole). And my injectors seemed like they weren't sealing right/they were plugged up.

My car has started and driven fine for about a year now. I replaced the water pump and injectors (with new o-rings) last night, and decided to let the sealant for the water pump sit over night. Button everything up and call it a night.

Try to start car this morning, and turned over for a couple of seconds then just stopped turning over. Check to make sure everything is how it should be installed. Try to start again, and engine won't even turn now, and starter is still making a noise and everything like it's trying to spin.

I tried to manually turn over the engine with a wrench on the crank and it seems like I'm hitting a wall or something where I can't even turn it over (not a small guy).

I also noticed that it seems like there is fuel coming through 2 of the injector caps (I thought is fine until car actually runs to seat the o-rings?)

What could cause the engine from not letting me turn it over at all?

I had a similar issue

Mine seemed like when it hit a compression stroke it would stop.

Turn out i had a bad connection (Corossion) on the stater power wire,
Check and clean all your grounds too.

Yea that's what it seems like, even though it's windy as a mofo right now I'll go check it out. Just seems weird because like I've never had this problem before, ya know?

So I checked all connections for the starter took em off, sanded them down ry quick and put em back together. The starter is making just a loud single "Chah" type noise. And then just nothing.... I tried hitting it with a hammer, but that didn't help anything.

Did the starter just go bad overnight?

So I had taken out the starter, had it tested at Autozone they told me it was bad. I got ahold of one that I knew was good. Installed it this morning....... Same thing.....

I also put the car in 4th and rolled it back and forth a little bit. And noticed fuel was coming out right before the turbo? Wtf?

Any ideas?

Right before the turbo? Inlet or outlet of the turbo?

I'd recheck your injector o-rings. Sounds like you messed up the install and you're dumping fuel into a cylinder.

Inlet.... Right after the exhaust manifold. Would that cause the engine from turning at all?

sounds like your cylinder is full of gas, pull your sparkplugs and turn it over and tell us what happens... look down the hole/holes and see if any of the pistons have a fuel puddle in the cylinder...

Alright, I get off work at 5 I shall be checking that out. Thanks

So it happened to have been hydrolocked. Jesus christ.... Took off spark plugs, and turned ignition and PSHHH shot a shit load of fuel in the air.

(Real good for my rattle can paint job).

I cleaned off the spark plugs with brake cleaner because they were soaked in fuel. (Not even 100 miles on them).

Wouldn't start up, but kinda just seemed like my battery was dead, so I put it on the charger.
Hopefully will start up tomorrow morning.

LOL
yeah you might have flooded it while trying to start it up so many times
it might not be your problem

I doubt it, the factory ECU doesn't inject THAT much fuel on a start. The fact that it almost immediately stopped turning over means you screwed up the inj. o-ring install and were dumping fuel in there. Remove the fuel rail and turn the key to ON(don't crank). Bet you fuel is spraying around one or more of the injectors.

And of course fuel in the cylinder will stop it from turning over - liquid DOESN'T compress, not even one bit. Hence why they called it hydroLOCKED.

Hopefully you didn't bend anything due to only trying to crank it like that and it not being running, but it's very possible you screwed up your bottom end.

Yea, very stupid of me. I didn't realize that one of the injectors O Rings that I installed was smaller than the others. And also didn't realize it could do that if misinstalled. Hopefully no damage
