I need a S14 SR. Normally I wouldn't want to spend this much money without seeing it in person first. But locally S14 SR20 swaps are $2500-3500. On eBay they're $2000 shipped (mostly from Canadian sellers). Wondering if anyone here has any good/bad reviews of those sellers.

i'd go with one of the websites before i'd hit ebay. i've talked to the guys at JEI a couple times and they seem pretty sure everything arrives like it's supposed to and I've talked to a few guys around here and got there engines from JEI and everything turned out great. they go for like 2200 probably 2500 shipped to Cali. Good luck whatever you do.

If your in socal the best place to go to is the sr20 store. google it they know theese engines inside and out and they also have rb series aswell. you could get an rb25 for 3600 instaleed and everything =]

canadian motors can be sketchy. i know two kids out here on the east coast who go their motors off ebay from a canada store. Motor arriced with metal in the oil pan and the companies wouldnt do anythign about it

so my justification for doing this was cause i was living in South Dakota at the time and EVERYTHING i needed to swap my car HAD to be ordered...if its not a mustang or camero they had no idea what they were looking at...
anyway, i ordered my blacktop from ebay and its turned out GREAT!! the engine came complete, uncut harness, ecu, everything...i must have gotten lucky because from all the horror stories i've read on ebay..i got a good motor!
been running strong for 5 years now!

yea, i've talked to marco... didnt know it was 3600 for a rb25 installed. thats cheaper than his quote for an sr installed. u sure about that?
From what Iv'e noticed alot of the same companies who sell engines online are on E-bay under the same name. E-bay gets alot of hits and brings more customers. I got a engine form a Canadian store and besides shipping and horrible customer service it was good condition.
buy local. if there is a problem with the engine its better/ easier to be able to actually go and talk to the engine depot than to have to trouble shoot over the phone or internet.

checking out the motor beforehand is definetly worth some extra cash imo. just being able to know exactly what you're getting is worth it in the long run

You're in California, lots of options for buying engines in state. No need for you to even think about going to Ebay.

Dude I have bought 3 engines from ebay -- people running repeatable shops. My sr20det came from totaljdm in canada aka Tronotojdm but it also set in customs for 2 months which sucked -- Now it makes around 350 whp and has been at that power level for over 8 months now. We also ordered an H22a auto jdm engine as well and it is now running well over 100 thousand plus miles.
Before you order a sr20 from Canada see if a guy from jdm of miami has any -- they usually go first due to how clean their ssrs are.

J.E.I FTW, Ive dealt with Phil many times and he is a stand up guy. If you could go by the shop you would have no doubt about buying from him

I went with ebay for my motor...BUT I got a local seller, found a guy who was trying to set up an import business. Contacted him before I bid, set up a meet to look at the actual clip I was bidding on, saw it in person, still sitting in a container, inspected it... ended up winning the clip for 1600, he didnt want to sell so we negotiated for 2K! full clip, true story... This would be the ONLY way i would buy a motor off ebay, you have to see it in person...
Try Craigslist and check your local forums, Im sure someone, somewhere, near you, is parting out his car/project..

i was also wondering about ebay notchtops for 2000 shipped back when i was kinda looking for one sounds like a pretty good deal but then again sr20's are generally overpriced IMO...3500 for a 12 year old 4 banger swap seems pretty steep but 2000 actually sounds fair IMHO
