View Full Version : Noob wastegate question
I have an SR20DET with stock T25 and internal wastegate. Someone suggested to me that I should "leave the wastegate fully open" which in turn does not create any boost as I am trying to pass the emissions test. How do I go about doing this, or would it even help at all? I'm failing on high NOx readings right now which should have something to do with my timing and the fact that there's no EGR..

My answer has nothing to do with whether or not you are going to pass emissions.
To prevent the wastegate from closing, you just disconnect the lever arm from the spring mechanism.
However, this will leave the wastegate free to "flop" around inside the housing.....
Not sure if that is unsafe or not.....hopefully someone else chimes in.

1st of all are you running a cat? Also do you have a BOV thats venting to atmosphere?

to be honest i dont think u will pass nox test, cuz even if the wastegate is dumping your still getting a little bit of boost. more o2 = more nox...
what if you disconnect the hot pipe from the compressor side and attach the maf like a regular car... lol j/k ??? hmmmm......
