I just had my motor rebuilt, and I took it out for a little drive. Im beginning to think my car is an example for Murphy's Law
Symptoms as far as I can tell:
1st gear doesn't ever like to go in
Sometimes feels like the clutch doesn't disengage
Hardcore rattling feeling coming from the transmission area/clutch pedal (somtimes)
Full clutch fluid
Current hypothesis is throwout bearing (based on searching). Any other ideas?
How hard is it to drop a transmission? Ive never even thought about doing it, but I hear its easy. The throwout bearing seems cheap and a pilot bushing seems cheap too....
All help is greatly appreciated
Thanks
Jake

shits easy bolts off bolts on as long as you aint messing with the clucth you shouldnt need the use of an alignment tool . but you might wanna bleed the system first just to see if it saves you the trouble .or it could also be your slave cylinder is taking a shit . i had rattle noise to but it was my realese bearing ...just trying to help ;)

So what thorwout bearing is the same? I searched the SR FAQ and there wasn't anything about it.
Im assuming that since the KA24de transmission can swap over, so can the throwout bearing.... but who likes to buy things twice?
Basically I need to:
Jack up the car
Drain the tranny
Disconnect harnesses/slave
unbolt the tranny
remove the clutch fork?
remove the throwout bearing from the clutch fork?
replace throwout bearing in same direction
put it all back together the same way
Fill with Redline MT90? 2.5 qts?
Bleed clutch
That sound right? Any experienced tranny droppers want to chime in?
Thanks

i'm no expert but i believe you are suppose to lube the throwout bearing before putting it back on.

Looking for a definite answer. Ive searched and nothing came up 100% positive.
Will a KA transmission Throw out bearing work for an SR Transmission?
Im assuming yes, but we all know what assuming does...... leaves you on the side of the road calling a tow truck....

a KA throwout bearing will work. Also i was having similiar problems with my transmission. I had an ebay clutch (freebie my buddy ordered and never used) so i figured i'd give it a try. Less than 500 miles later this started happening. Two springs in the clutch disc came out and were sandwiched between the pressure plate and disc stopping it from fully disengaging. Just another possibility but not very common. I have only seen it twice, mine and my buddy's JGY clutch for his bluebird swapped sentra. Good luck with your car.
Note: I have personally used a KA throwout bearing on my SR but i am not sure if an oem KA throwout bearing is as strong as one that would come with an aftermarket clutch.

Yes, the contacting surfaces of the new TO bearing need to be greased.

So, to update an old thread.
We pulled the motor and while pulling it found that there was a loose Solid motor mount. We're thinking its possible that the motor mount was making a knocking noise. What do you guys think?

Maybe but also check the TOB

BTW I had a $hitty transmission mount and it caused some of the conditions you stated above including: grinding, hard shifting and sometime pop-outs.

This is a possibility. I remember my buddy's Tiburon had a loose motor mount (the screw vibrated itself loose or something) and you would hear an audible rattling noise on startup. He tightened it up and problem solved.
you better lube that input shaft.
