No. If it's deployed, you can go in through the hole in the top, but you should pull the dash to do it IMO.

Ummm... Unless you are on crack do not deploy the airbag first unless you possibly like a broken windshield, disconnect the battery first and read the FSM.

FSM tells you how to do it just fine. This seems like common sense to me...

Actually you would have to be partially retarded to have a problem figuring this out.

yup pull the dash .... here a pic to give you an idea, you need a security wrench or socket.

Just pull the battery wait about 10 min and then go at it. Its best to remove dash and you will need to have a special tool to remove the air bag. I had to drill a a hole in the center of my torx wrench to be able to remove the 4 bolts holding the air bag.

Or you just go to Autozone and buy the pack. Its actually pretty helpful to have.

Disconnect battery

Remove the dashboard (few 10mm bolts and some screws)

Disconnect the airbag and remove with Torx t-50 bit (I got mine from NAPA).

I know how to remove airbags without them deploying and I would never deploy it first to make it easier to remove. I wanted to just remove the airbag and keep the cover on there as thats what I did to my S14 wheel and since I've taken out everything else involving the system.

I was just seeing if I can do without taking the dash off because yesterday to remove it from my brothers WRX you just pop the glove box off and you can take it out.

Thanks to all!
