Stolen coilovers kts!

Ok this really fuckin' sucks. I go to pick up my car finally from a buddies house and my coilovers are gone. Straight up jacked.

KTS is the brand, they are the blue ones, from an S13.

The unique thing about them, they have yellow helper springs on the BOTTOM of the rear coilovers. The helper springs didn't come with them, I put them on seperate. Please help me find these bad boys, I didn't even get to drive on them on my car.

They were stolen in the Anaheim area

The back story (End of summer 2009): I got rod knock on my SR. So my plan was to just throw in a cheap motor. My friend says "just tow it to my house, we can have it running again in like 2 weeks". So we proceed to do that (which you know I agree an engine swapp can be done in like 2 days or less even so 2 weeks is a good time span). Got it to his house and ripped out the SR. While waiting for my friend to get the motor, I cleaned and painted the engine bay. Finally got the motor a little while later, and he starts saying "you should take out the butterflies and remove the emissions stuff, it will rev a lot faster" and such like that. So I proceed to doing that which takes a while longer, also waiting on motor mounts from a company that failed hardcore to deliver.

All this time, working is usually at night, because I work and he works. His garage is litterally absolutely filthy, which some of you locals will know who I'm talking about just by that statement. There is a car in there that doesn't run, he has parts laying on the ground everywhere that are broken/doesn't need/good but he's lazy and doesn't take care of his shit/kitty litter everywhere/things thrown in there/tools/bolts you name it. I left my toolbox there because it was heavy to keep moving around. So time goes by, working on this stupid motor that he started recommending I do this and that while the motor is out. Time keeps going by, I keep complaining (i'll admit) and bitching to him because my car has been there for so long, he starts getting pissed at me for bitching and complaining so now there is tension between us. Throughout this time, I bought coilovers from a very good friend of mine. Put them on my car and the engine was in but not running. My friend keeps asking me litterally over 3 times a day "hey, let me borrow your coilovers", "your not down to let me ride on your coilovers", "your car's not even running let me borrow them". I said no to him at least 15 times to the point where I don't remember saying yes, but apparently I told him he could borrow them.

So he puts it on his car, 2 weeks later, I tell him to put them back on my car. He wouldn't do it, tension was still high I wanted to get my car out of there asap. Finally he said "fine", puts the coilovers on my car with every single bolt loose and pushes it into the street by the curb in front of his house. Puts my toolbox in my car and leaves it unlocked tells me "your car's ready, come get it". It's 100% not driveable. So that just ticked me off, I drove up to it, saw the loose bolts everywhere and went back home to figure out what to do.

Next day I come by to jump start it, maybe tow it away and what, look at this! The coilovers are gone, and the gauge that my friend let me have for my single cam. But my toolbox still there? My $500 stereo system still there? Everything else...still there? WTF? Then my friends thought I was junkyarding my car, when really I was going to tow it away to either another friend who needed it, or sell it for some cash so the entire car was stripped to peices.

After that whole ordeal, my "friend" started to try and be buddy buddy with me again.

Main story now:

I let everything go, wasen't looking into it much, just keeping an eye out here and there for FS stuff. Then recently, some friends came forward and started telling me information that they saw (we'll just call him bob for now) Bob with my coilovers at his house (the house my car was jacked in front of). So I got curious and started asking other friends if they had heard or knew of anything about this.

Slowly one by one people started telling me information that had all pointed toward Bob and many were different sources that didn't know each other. A couple even said Bob told them straight to their face he stole my coilovers and they are now on (we'll call him Fred) Fred's car.

So I confront Bob and Fred about this, tell them what I heard, gave them a chance to confess and let it all go. I'm not a violent guy, didn't want anything to happen. They both denied everything many times. Fred even got buddy buddy with me and took me home, said he's "not going anywhere" and he wants to be of help if he can. He's a pretty well known guy so you'd think he wouldn't lie. But then again, he told me in the past he is a really good liar.

So Fred admitted to be running KTS coilovers on his car (the same brand that were stolen) and asked if I wanted to see them and whatnot (it was 1:30AM so I declined). More and more people throughout time that I've talked to about this has some sort of information about the coilovers relating to Bob and Fred.

Recently, Fred was at the same place I was and I asked if I could see them then. He proceeded to show me, and sure enough they were the same exact brand, model, condition, and missing peices (peices that I have at home actually). Fred told me he bought them off craigslist, and when I proceeded to ask him for a phone number to the guy who he bought them off, he could not give me any other information other than "the guy told me they were cuscos, I bought them for 8 bills, picked them up in san fernando valley". It says KTS right on the coilovers...

So that is right now how it stands, and since then I've had another couple of people tell me Fred put them on his car knowing they were mine. There is a police report written, and I will have the police involved if Fred refuses to give them back.

Bob on the other hand, still owes me $100, and I let him borrow my NRG steering wheel, which I noticed was not on his car anymore when I saw it recently. I asked him where it was and he said he let a friend borrow it (most likely sold it because he is super fucking shady).

Anyways, Bob is super shady and I'd say a bit more dangerous, Fred is well known throughout the drift scene and I hope he confess's to knowing at least and cooperates. As of right now, I do not have them back in my possession but am trying to work with Fred to give them back because it is stolen property and he can be charged.

I just don't know what to do with this Bob guy...when I asked him where is my money several times, he responded with "Where is my $4800 for storage fees for 4 months?" regarding my car being at his house for that long due to my engine blowing and he said to tow it to his house because we can have it swapped in 2 weeks. He said it, not I. Oh and almost my entire toolbox is missing tools, scattered around his garage thats never been cleaned in a million years covered in grease, grime, useless parts, a car that doesn't run, and kitty litter everywhere. So I mean if he's pulling that card, he owes me another $200 in tools, and another $200 in SR parts that he never paid for that I was going to let go as a friend helping me out. But now it's come down to this.

Any input with you guys would be appreciated. I don't want anyone after me if I get people arressted or press charges. Nor do I want to confront someone again (such as Bob) and get in a fist fight. I'll be honest I'm not a great fighter at all, but I do have extreme connections with many fighters that some people wouldn't believe a normal, nice, white guy would have.

I suggest just like some people said, in the posts below this one,to just put their name out there so nobody does business with them anymore. I doubt Bob will change or even give your steering wheel back and I dunno if Fred will confess about the coilovers. Just know that you can't really trust anybody with anything of yours anymore and choose your friends wisely in the future.

I still think it's funny how you can't trust nobody and it's 2010.Sucks but I hope they get their lesson some how.Good luck and keep us posted.

Ok not only the coilovers were taken, but the gauge that you gave me for the motor that was on my drivers seat, was taken as well. You could have easily taken them before you went out to ride your quad in perris. It would only take about 10 minutes since you left all the bolts loose and off. You litterally didn't even need a wrench to take them off.

Your first paragraph explains a very key point in all of this. And I thank you for seeing me as 'the bigger man' so to speak. Honestly, I'm not a fighter, I treat others how I want to be treated. You're probably right about most of what you said. Although as much as I agree'd to take care of it, he didn't do his side either. He took things off of it, and then when I asked him to put them back on he did not.

And Mario, the cinder block from your driveway was under the front of my car AFTER my coilovers were stolen. It was used to hold up the front of my car because it had no suspension on it anymore, unlike the back that was just dropped on the groud pretty much.

My coilovers I saw for myself whose car they are on, wether he "bought them off craigslist for $800" or not, it is stolen property and is written in a police report. He will have to get his money back from this "guy on craigslist" that he cannot provide any information for. I already talked to a mod about this, and until I have physical evidence or a confession, nothing can be done.

I have like 10 witnesses, to whom he either told people he stole them from me, or people who saw them at his house, or people who know the guy who has them now that have told me he knowingly put them on his car knowing they were mine. But still denies it and says he bought them off craigslist.

Thanks, a big factor in this is, I've had this shit happen before. I have been very unlucky in the car world. Both car's that I've owned have been stolen. My cressida, and now my hatch stripped. When I find a theif I will not let him go. I haven't went to the police yet because Charlie traded his car (with my coilovers on it) for a BMW and refuses to tell me where it is.

I just want my shit back is all. I'm in dire need of money for another car at the moment as my license is approaching reinstatement.

I gave you chance after chance to admit and let everything go Mario. Why don't you answer with a legit response on why you told that person you stole my coilovers and they were on Charlie's car? And not only that person knew about it, but a few others came forward as well as even one person actually SEEING you and Charlie with them. Once I get a confession or actually have my coilovers back in my possession, then I will close this thread and never speak of any of this.

As for a small update to lighten the load a bit, Mario has texted me this morning (Out of nowhere, I haven't bugged him for a little while now) and told me he found my air nozzle that was lost in his garage for almost 8 months or so. I proceeded to ask him about my steering wheel, and I got a response of "I'm looking, I forgot where I put it". I proceeded to remind him that he told me he let a friend borrow it, but he said he gave it back the next day. I told him that once he finds the steering wheel and has my $100 to please give them back.

Although I'm pretty sure he can pay the money back at any given moment (he somehow just got a body kit for his corolla out of nowhere). I know it's only $100, but still, things are really bad right now.

And I found out where Charlie's car is, somehow got down to San Diego with my coilovers on it. Going to keep pursueing to get them back, hopefully this owner will comply and be understanding. I don't want the new owner to be shit outta luck with this. We'll see.

I'm getting pretty pissed at this new owner. I've sent him 3 PM's and he has yet to respond to me. Instead, he is texting Charlie non stop at work trying to trade the car back asap. This guy is acting paranoid as all hell from what I hear. I mean I guess I don't blame him, but with the PM's I sent him I don't understand. At first I just wanted to see if he could check a couple things for me.

Then I told him to not worry I'll deal with it myself then, nothing will involve you it's not your problem, pretty much forget about what I said. Then the last PM I sent (because he keeps bugging Charlie to trade back and something about a lawyer being ready to go and all that) I told him I'll deal with this through the person that stole them and it will be considered a purchased part and I'll eliminate the police report.

I absolutely cannot stand people that don't respond to something like that, it pisses me off, makes me so angry. Like obviously he read it, when I ask of something he can at least say "no I will not check this for you" or "yes I'd be happy to". But no, this guy just doesn't even respond. And I told him that I found it rude, but in a polite way I suppose.

Just because they're KTS coilovers doesn't mean they're his.

Same thing with the coils on Charlie's old car or anybody else for that matter.

There's thousands of coils out there that look exactly the same.

No way to tell they're really yours without verifying.

I appreciate you trying to help out and thanks for posting something like this to show everyone how I know. There are certain adjustment knobs that are missing on the coilovers that I have in my possession. This seller for one has a lot of posts and positive reputation, there is no harm in asking him for details about them. Without pictures I'm at nowhere though.

Also if he doesn't have the extra collars that come with the coilovers, that could be a sign as well. There are a few selected signs to look for, the main reason that Mario was singled out was because he admitted to someone to taking them.

People sometimes ask me, "well what do you want to do?". My response to that is, I want a confession/apology (after that I will mention the details, that someone has manned up, and close the thread), then to work something out with paying me back for them.

It cost you nothing.

Well, your very right and if there is any kind of serial number to match up with it to confirm they are mine, then we will pursue something of that matter.

I just got off the phone with the new owner, I'm really glad he called. Basically if there is no serial numbers or anything like that on it, then I am shit out of luck. There is no way (like crimmsonrocket said) to completely 100% prove they are mine. All is by word of mouth and witnesses and such. I mean looking at them, they looked just like mine, missing the same adjustment knobs and all. But a serial number or marking is the only way to positive ID it.

I am going to close this thread if there is no serial number or any marking on the coilovers and just deal with it myself and talk with Mario about it, hopefully work something out with him.

If you have witnesses, you dont need serial numbers.

And find the place you bought them from.
You would be surprised at what you could figure out as far as serial numbers go.

the FBI could do it easily, which means its doable.
couple of phone calls, and tell them its for tracking down stolen property for a court case.
They will turn the "no's", into "yes's" :)

Eric thank you for your input, you always have excellent advice in all aspects. I didn't want to take it to that level.

The headaches and aggrevation this all has caused me is not worth it. I've been in contact with the new owner of the white hatch which I thought had my coilovers on it, he had been very cooperative and generous looking for any serial numbers or codes to identify them but came up with nothing. He even helped me look a bit for another car. Anyways, what I'm getting at is, I cannot go off an assumption that those are my coilovers because that is all it is. I made the mistake of 'assuming'. There is no way to prove it unless a confession occurs from Mario and/or Charlie. Mario most likely will not confess because he's on probation (although I wouldn't have him arressted or anything, just simply work out some terms on paying me back). Charlie has offered to help me out, even drive me down to San Diego where the hatch is located to take a look at them and discuss things. So honestly I don't know what to think anymore. People are getting to my head and it's about to explode.

As of right now, I don't want anymore of this headache, I should have listened to my parents and my girlfriend and walked away from it all in the beginning.

This is me right now walking away from all of this. Thank you very much for those of you that contributed and helped along the way, as well as even helping me look for another car. Feel free to PM me for any further information you might have or questions that you might have. I'll have the thread reopened if I have proof of a confession or pictures to prove I got anything back. But I will not be pursueing anymore of this. This has now become a cold case.

*EDIT* Coilovers have been found, and everything has been sorted out. No need to look out for these anymore. Thank you for everyones help.

*EDIT #2* After promised to be payed back for the coilovers (I even asked for a smaller amount that I paid for), they have both started to ignore me, and not payed one cent. Both admitted to the incident to me personally. With that being said, I'd like to remind you all:
