So, im designing my hydro set up(nothing new or special) but am coming across some question i cnt find the answer to.
So u know what my plans r, i plan on doing a "standalone" hydro ebrake set up(not inline with the braking system).
set up consist of::::
front 300zx calipers mounted in the rear via custom bracket
Either pbm ebrake w/ reservoir added from willwood
or new MC with res attached and different bore size.
obviously lines nd other things to make it work.
I have questions??????????????????
(1)Would i need to use i bigger bore size because of not running an inline style hydro e brake?
(2) Does bigger bore size make pull effort easier or harder??? EXAMPLE (5/8 more pull effort than 1 1/16)
(3)There is about a half inch gap between the brake pad w/ the pads fully suppressed and rotor pushed to one side as shown in pic below, now is that a problem? or will that work?
(4) What bore size would u recommend i use? cuz at the moment i have no idea what would be best nd dont want to waist money trying to get the right MC.

this isnt on the car yet, trying to get a game plan first.
Thanx in advanced for any help given!

The bigger the bore, the more effort you need to push out the piston. so a 17/16 requires more effort to push out hte piston than say a 5/8, but a 5/8 will feel mushy this is obviously with the same booster.
With the break pistons fully supressed, 1/2" seems like a lot, but in your picture it looks like its less than 1/2". Just check for leaks and make sure a piston doesn't pop out hahaha, other than that... it looks ok....
I would go with a 15/16 first, that I think is a very good first try....

thanks for the info!!!
and yea its for a ebrake set up, so there will be no booster, and as for the bore sizing i figured thats how it worked but wasnt sure...
im gunna go with the combination remote cylinder, bore sizing is down to 3/4th(.75) 7/8th(.875) and 13/16th (.8125) so there all within each other.
ohhh and full stroke of each is somewhere either at 1"-1.4"
i think anything bigger is gunna be over kill, and i dnt want the mushy feel of the 5/8....but sense iv decided to do this with the PBM hydro e brake, im gunna get the MC with the remote res. and attack the remote res to the PBM MC(5/8th) so if the 5/8 is not right ill have the other MC of my choice.
having no hands on experience except for using my reg brakes:duh: im gunna just go with the middle bore size (13/16th) nd i guess trial nd error.
i will post pic of set up, somewhere on here=p to show, nd ill prob be able to answer anyone elses questions about this by the time im finished!
any info found to be stupid above^^
plz tell me!
thnks!

I think try with a 5/8's first, because obviously, your hand isn't braced while pulling so if you go pull type hand brake, 5/8's is the way to go unless you are like have big right hand. If you go push type like D1 setups then something a little stiffer is the way to go...
Push type you get more leverage hence you can afford to go with a bore closer 1" but if you have pull type like normal ebrake, 5/8" I would try it first.

ahh kk, well im not sure yet if i wanna make a custom handle and replace my stock ebrake(relocate stock cable brake) or mount it next to it like a 2nd shifter lol
buttt
im gunna try the 5/8th first, cuz im going with the Powered by Max ebrake with a res/ added, nd see how it feels, mounted so that i would pull the handle towards me.
when u say push pull, wouldnt both types be considered pull?(i guess with the PBM ebrake it depends on how u mount it).

Yeah depends how you mount basically

your hand isn't braced while pulling so if you go pull type hand brake
Push type you get more leverage
Are we sure about this?

what he means, is..... well lol
in essence hes saying that pulling the ebrake up(like stock cable brake) takes more effort than to push/pull the handle towards u like a Powered By Max ebrake,(mounted backwards or w.e) =p
IE: k sport set up and PBM set up.
Now that i take a look at the ksport ebrake, i might start with that one, sense i can mount it either as pull(stock style) or push type(d1 or pbm style) because i wont have to modify the PBM handle to convert it to pull(stock style) to see how that feels... cuz im doing both styles nd comparisons.

Well yeah, looking at the use perspective.... not from the mechanical perspective.
But slider or die got the idea....

so which style would u use a bigger bore size for?
d1 or stock style?

Probably D1 style I would use bigger bore.....
