If you have been following my problem, i picked up a 90 hatch with an sr.. but the sr wasnt running...
he said that the harness was fuked, so i rewired all of it, and i got another engine ground..
so i actually got it to crank, which it didnt before..
and it would just turn and turn, unless i floored it, and then it started up..
it smoked ALOT.. it was blue smoke, and it smells like its running really rich..
well after first start, it ran with my foot on the gas, it blew off, and ran pretty well.. but i take my foot off the gas and it dies.. it wont idle... you guys have any ideas???

Basic troubleshooting steps:
If car wont run/idle right, check ALL the sensors on the engine.
Check the MAFS, CAS, TPS, water temp, etc.
MAFS: unplug it, start the car and see if that changes anything.
CAS: You sure your timing is right? sure sure?
TPS: @ key on, .5v closed, 5v at wide open throttle (I think thats right... maybe its .4v and 4v).
water temp: dont know the volts, should be able to find it if you search.
Blue smoke isnt a good sign though.

my ka do that when i unplug the MAF ...
check your maf .. and maybe you have a vacumm leak .. a big vacumm leak make my car Puff some Big cloud of smoke.. im pretty sure its your problem
Maybe timing?

Sounds like timing, since i have no experience with direct fire ignition i can't tell you what to do, but when i took my distributor out once, i was one tooth off and it was doing exactly what you described

if the engine hasn't been running in a long time, it's possible that all the motor oil leaked through cylinder walls and ended up in the pan.
This means your cylinders will most likely get really ****ty compression for a while.
This seems like the case since you say that the previous owner said the harness was fux0red. that probably meant that this was the previous owner's fux0red sr install. engine probably hasn't been running for months, even years.
so anyway, when you crank the engine for the first time in a long time without priming the oil pump, without changing the oil, without taking out the spark plugs and disconnecting the efi fuse, when the engine compresses, gasoline and air will be shoved down past the rings and down into the oil pan filling it up.
that ain't good. Plus blowby gasses consisting of unburnt gas and motor oil will shoot through into your head and out of the valve cover in the blow by recirc tube and back into your engine. the more you do this, the more your engine chokes. that's why it's so easy to start your car when there's no blow by hose connected to your intake.
