well i have this build log on every other forum so i figured i would put it here to.
I had been wanting a 240 for a while and had been looking around for one pretty much all last summer. I wanted to get one as a project car to work on cause I didn’t want to keep moding my truck. I was originally planning on getting a 240 with a stock kade and eventually turboing it since I was starting this as a learn to drift/fun weekend car. But in October of last year I found a guy that had started a project and couldn’t finish it so I picked up a 89 shell with a blown single cam and it came with an s14 sr20 and a few other parts for a pretty good deal. The only problem was the shell was an auto and kind of ruff on the outside and a little bit of frame rail rust. So I ended up picking up another 240 that was a 5 speed with a running single cam for cheap and it was in better shape on the outside and no rust, it just had a stripped interior which didn’t really bother me since this well be a track/weekend car. So I sold the other shell and the single cam out of my new 240 and ended up making a little money on it. Well enough talk onto the pics!

The s14 sr and the blown ka24e with all the parts that came with the shell and sr20. Ohh forgot to mention the sr20 started life as an automatic so hopefully she hasn’t been ran to hard =) also got an extra piggy front bumper and front fenders.

About this time I came across another 240 that was a 5 speed and running and driving so I sold the other shell and picked this up for cheap. Wingless and wiperless hatch =)

Then sprayed the block with silver engine enamel to get it looking pretty and replaced a few gaskets.

Then I decided to make life easier and picked up some circuit sports oil and coolant lines.

Installed those. Yes after I took the pic I realized the lines were backwards so I fixed those lol

Had my flywheel resurfaced, new through out bearing and put exedy clutch on.

Put on the trany, then I found out the auto sr and 5 speed use different starters so I got a 5 speed starter.

The only part I didn’t do myself was the wiring which was done by Taylor Durdan at Durdan Perfab. He did a great job and I would recommend him to anyone that’s not looking to tackle wiring them selves.

Got an eBay cxracing s14 intercooler kit. Everything fit in the s13 chassis except the hot pipe was a little bit tall and didn’t clear the hood so we took about 3 inches out of it.

After getting everything installed and double checking everything we put some gas in her and she started up first try! She ran pretty good to begin with just high idle so adjusted that down and she would hit fuel cut around 4k rpm so upgraded the stock fuel pump to a walbro and so far so good!

Then I wanted to at least have a little protection in the front so we took the factory bumper and cut as little as possible so that it would slip over the fmic.

Then the car had cut springs from the previous owner so I was planning on just getting a set of megan street coilovers but ended up finding a great deal on a set of used tein super drifts!

Well as you guys saw when I got the car the back seat and carpet was gone. So I finished stripping the back half of the car.

Finally picked up some bucket seats! They are f1 spec type 4. they came with a drivers side buddy club rail, still need to get a rail for the passenger side. One seat is new and I was told the other was used for 2 months which I believe since the are both in excellent shape! On to the pics

thanks guys. yea i want to go lower. the rear isn't a problem but the front needs to be pulled a little other wise it rubs the fender. any help on how to do that in the front?

then i went to china for 3 weeks but before i left i dropped my car off to have a mazworx roll bar welded in so when i got home i had this.

yes i i would for sure recommend the seats. i love them and they make a huge difference while drifting. just wouldn't recommend this exact one if you are a bigger guy..

and yarou yes it is a little crooked and it bothers me to lol but it had to be that way for the s14 piping to work in the s13 chassis with out doing a little more custom work. i'm considering going to a midmount ic for next year but not sure yet. opinions?

Nice work man, very nice build! I have been collecting parts for a similar turbo setup as well... I have a SPEC stage 2 clutch that came in my car when I bought it and I really like it. I had an ACT in another car and liked that as well, so I don't really think you can go wrong with any of the three you listed... keep it up!

looks like you're dallying. i would not recommend the exedy stage 2 for daily. i have an exedy stage 2 and i daily, and it's harsh engagement. personally i like the harsh engagement and i like doing clutch kicks and it has been consistently good to me for 2 years and going strong.

i would go with something that is an organic pressure plate and has alot of clamping power. looks like you'll eventually be putting down some power.

while your'e there REPLACE YOUR PILOT BUSHING AND YOUR REAR MAIN SEAL!

thank you sir. and actually this isn't my daily. i have a s10 that i daily so im not to worried about harsh engagement. i just want to get what will hold up the best on the track. i drive this car maybe once a week on the street sometimes less than that.. and my pilot bushing was replaced when i put the motor in since it was auto when i got it and swapped to 5 speed but i will look into the rear main seal.. so with that said what clutch would you recommend?

alright guys i need your help. the motor is all back together and in the car but will not stay running. it will start up and run really rough for about 30 seconds then get flooded and die. then the only way for it to even attempt to start back up is to pull the plugs and let it air out for a couple hours. so i've been checking everything i can think of and haven't been able to get it fixed. any ideas? im open to anything right now.

here is what has been down since it ran last.

cometic headgasket
arp headstuds
bc valves
bc valve springs and retainers
peak rocker arm stoppers
nismo 740cc injectors
z32 maf
gt2871r .64
hks 264 intake 272 exhaust cams
enthalpy tuned ecu


before all of that the motor was running fine and was pretty much stock.

any help would be great. again the motor is getting way to much fuel.

did you put the CAS in correctly? could be something to look at.

yea ive pulled it out and made sure everything was lined up a couple times now. i read that it could be in upside down (180 degrees off) but i don't really see how that is even possible? anyone else have ideas? im going to try to get a fuel pressure gauge on it soon and see if maybe my stock fpr is bad. but it was running fine before the upgrades?

Sounds like CAS 180 out or the ECU (tuned ecu's are sketchy sometimes IMO).

it appears that way. ill check out my coil packs and wiring. but it is all the same that came out of my car that was running perfectly a month ago before the upgrades.

how do you put the CAS in? by setting the engine, and cams to TDC? and then lining everything up and doing it that way?

yep engine and cams at TDC then line up the marks on the cas put it in and it turns to line up with the painted dot.

After disassembling my harness and pretty much re-doing every solder joint and heat shrinking it with double wall adhesive hs, checking for breaks and fixing anything else that looked mickey mouse. The harness is a bit cleaner now, anything that was removed was "REMOVED" from the wiring.

Car so far is running great and a lot stronger now.

I would suggest a harness issue.

well took off the valve cover tonight to check things out and my timing chain tensioner is broken... so the motor has to come back out to fix that and check it out to make sure it didn't tear up anything else.. also i am going to go ahead and get an adjustable fpr. which ones should i look at or stay away from?

just go ahead and get an aeromotive. Super safe and whatnot. (that's my personally opinion)

and the tensioner, thats not good, might have thrown the timing off as well, so I'm crossing my fingers.

yea i've got my fingers crossed to.. what sucks is i don't have any time to pull it back out till next week. so the chance of me driving on the 17th is looking slim.. and i've been looking at the aeromotives.. just looked at enjuku though and the isis looks identical to it. anyone have any experience with that one?

but i am getting the car aligned in a few days and really need everyones help with specs. i dont really have a clue what i should run. i should be making around 315 at the moment and have all adjustable suspension. also strictly looking for a drift alignment since i almost never drive this on the street anymore. any help with specs would be great.

painted the valve cover bright green. aeromotive fpr, isis tension and toe rods. ikeya formula inner tie rods.

i dont kno if anyone mentioned it to you but the blue leds are bad for your eyes.. seriously plus it looks stupid... get bmw orange or something along those lines... also the pink harness and green cookie cutter wheels are kinda gayish otherwise good job

after a few years of being apart and getting screwed by local shop my car is finally running again and should be ready for a shakedown on the 31st!

the motor got a full rebuild and a couple of new additions. will get a full list of everything that was done shortly. really can't remember everything that has been bought and done to the car over the past couple years.

was having issues with my fuel pump turning on so I hardwired that.

switched back to the stock sr turbo manifold and added a tail 38mm external wastegate.
