does anyone know if you can use a sr2det harness for a sr20de? i'm sure it would need some modification, but just how much? can i use a KA harness and just modify it? any help would really be appreciated. thanks!

if it can be done, its definitely not for the average wrencher. expert / specialty job.

well i know it's not an easy job. I also wouldn't consider myself the "average wrencher." i'm just needing info on the similarities in the sr20de and the sr20det harnesses. do we know if they use the same plugs for the injectors, the MAFS, the igniter, etc....i've tried all the search utilities, but can't seem to find this. if anyone knows, it would really help. thanks.

IIRC the SR20DE doesn't use coil on plug ignition like the DET it has a distributor so i dunno if the ignitor is even there
P.S. what are you using this in 240Sx?

i'm putting a S13 SR20DE into a S14('96 240SX SE). that's a good point about the coil packs. i'll have to look, but i bet the igniter is built into the distributor like the KA. do we know if the KA injector plug are the same as the SR? what about the ecu plugs....do they match up? if so, i could just re-wire my KA harness to match the SR. i would just try this, but i don't have an ECU yet and wiring harness aren't cheap.

SR20DE harness will be closer to KA24DE harness than SR20DET harness.
Why are you replacing a 155hp/160lb-ft engine with a 140hp/130lb-ft engine?

everyone asks that.....it started when the head gasket blew on the KA. in fixing it, one of the cam sproket bolts wasn't tightened right. now there's a bent valve. i got the SR20DE for a steal and prefer it's characteristics much more than the KA. the KA is a longer stroke, torque, less top-end, american engine. the SR20 is a shorter stroke, higher-reving, japanese, racey engine. i'm also planning on turbocharging it at a later time. and maybe the best reason for this particular swap....i love building things. this was a cheap way to get a new engine and a fun project. (also, the KA had 120K miles on it. why NOT go for a JDM 50K engine?)
also, just because it's got only 140hp now doesn't mean it will when i'm done with the 3 angle valve job, port and polish, and complete balancing/blueprinting.:D
