For $6,000

Good :
1996 Nissan 240sx, 130k miles, pearl white, clean title. Mechanic owned, never been abused. I have been the owner since 2001. New painted kouki front end with jdm grill, front bumper & turn signals. Full JIC suspension(FLTA2 dampers, front pillow tension rods, inner tie rods, rear upper control arms, rear traction bars & rear toe control arms). Five lug conversion with new factory hubs and bearings. Factory se wheels on Bfgoodrich g-force kdw's. factory nissan clutch repalced about 30k miles ago, new clutch pedal bushings, new factory timing chains, timing chain guides & tensioners, new front & rear crank seals, new power steering return lines. Nismo motor mounts and transmission mount. Frequent oil changes with nissan oil filters and mobil 1 synthetic oil. panasonic cq-c71054 deck, rockford punch 325x2 amp, 12" JL Audio W3 sub & 5 1/2 mbquart speakers. Includes new kouki tail lights, new third brake light, painted jdm rear bumper and jdm folding mirrors with switch.

Bad:
the a/c does NOT work, i recharged the system recently and it leaked out all the refrigerant within a day. i noticed excessive wetness on the condenser and the lines so it might be o-rings or the condenser. i havent used the a/c since but the rest of the system is ok just need to repair the leak and recharge the system. one thing also is when i replaced the timing chains i misplaced the washer for the adjuster pulley on the a/c belt and i never got to it, its just the matter of running to your local nissan dealer and picking one up, i do have the a/c belt though. The interior is clean, no cracks on the dash or major scuffs on any interior panels. there is a minor leak from the speed sensor, i tried replacing the o-ring but nissan wont sell just the o-ring, you have to buy the sensor. The left c.v. is slinging grease and will need a new clamp(boots are not torn, just slings grease from clamp). The tach is off by about 700rpm(at idle it reads 0). The tach was like this when i bought it, i had plans on replacing it with an se cluster. The front tie rod end boots are torn and may need to be replaced soon. There is a rattle coming from the muffler(muffler hits the body)mostly due to the dampers being so stiff (all exhaust hangers are intact and no rubber mounts are missing). Thats pretty much everything in mind on the car, these were things i intended to fix but havent had the time.

What do you think about the good vs the bad ?

It is very clean but I wouldn't pay $6,000 for it. I'd go get a clean 95 with no mods, you could find that them for like $2,750.

You're going to by a car for 6grand without AC and you live in Arizona?

8k or 6k?

if 6k, price is good, for whats included.

if 8k. i'd think twice.

repairs seem minor, but seems to be alot of little things, which can often add up.

if you plan to do repairs yourself, then by all means...

if not, then, expect to pay some money to repair the ac stuff and all the other things.

i guess it just depends on how much you want to put in for repairs.

Looks like a clean way to start off. Which is how you want to do it.

There is a lot more bad than good. Don't be fooled by the shiny new paint.

AC broken? Pain in the ass to fix.
CV boot? Pain in the ass again.
etc etc

He wanted 8k but he agreed at 6k.

I do have plans to on fixing whats wrong with it.

I still plan on running a car fax on it.

So you think the price is good ?

only way i would really ever buy a 240 again would be to fully trick the ever living shit out of it.

Lol Ive actually had an Evo 9 and currently have a G35 MT TEIN VOLKS but having car payments isnt fun either plus I have 4 points for speed of contest so insurance is like a whole other car payment for me thats why im looking to buy something cash where my insurance wont be like a car payment.

its a 96 so it obd2 (not my preference). Also, being "mechanically owned" doesnt sounds like he a good mechanic nor is the car mechanically sound. To me that 6k is too much for a 96. I wouldnt do it, but is your $

The mod list sucks. I know of a 95 Zenki in Tennesse for sale with a ka-t pushing 500hp for 5,600.

That thing you have for Good is hardly a "mod list" it's basically a list of repairs that are done on all 10+ year old cars. Saying the car runs means that you have done all the aforementioned shit he took time to post.

looks clean but ide go with $5,000 max on this. its basically a front end swap and coilovers. if this was an origina kouki ide say $7k.

The value of a 240SX is based on the buyer, if you find someone who wants it bad enough they will buy it. Personally I wouldn't buy it as it nothing special for the price. People have sold cars on Zilvia with more performance mods than this car for around this price. Within the past month alone I seen one S14's with SR's on this board being listed for a cheaper price with mods on the car that would have the buyer break even if parted.

Keep shopping

Call me crazy I totally would. If shit hit the fan you could always part out. Different strokes for different *snip*.

But what it all boils down to is the fact that the OP car is NOT worth $6,000.

I'd offer him $4,250 cash. Couple jacksons, couple grants, couple benjamins.

Get it down and drop a LS1 in that bitch :coolugh:

If I was young and not established, Id buy someone's finished, running project. You would save alot of money IMO. Now I do it cause I have the expendable income. My S14 still is under 100,000 org miles and in great condition I will not even come close to breaking even If I sold it.

Am I missing something? Is the car selling for 8k or 6k? If 6k its a good start for a project if 8k, he might be asking a lil to much.

Car is definitely worth more than 4.5k.

I do not know about your area, but in GA, a clean stock Kouki S14 goes for around 6k max. A Kouki converted S14 is like 4 to 5k depends on the mods.
