ok so some of you have asked me about the B&M shortshifter for a KA/SR.

i finally was coaxed to take one apart and take pictures to show you how it is supposed to go together. surprisingly there is no accurate info about how this goes together. hope this helps everyone, and give me a break this is my first write up

1. Here you can see what components consist of this shifter. If you are missing any parts now you will know

2. These are the tiny internal components. They consist of the spring, spring retainer, and the cylinder thing that holds them(dont know what to call it) there are two sets, one for each side.

This is the empty cylinder type object that the spring and spring retainer sit in

3. Here is the same cylinder with the circular spring retainer slipped inside
http://i492.photobucket.com/albums/rr282/sexyzenki/photo6.jpg

4. Spring fits on top of the retainer
http://i492.photobucket.com/albums/rr282/sexyzenki/photo8.jpg

5. This is how the cylinder fits against the shifter rods
http://i492.photobucket.com/albums/rr282/sexyzenki/photo9.jpg

6. here is how the cylinder should fit against the shifter rods while inside the housing
http://i492.photobucket.com/albums/rr282/sexyzenki/photo10.jpg

7. The shifter rods should touch the bottom of the housing followed by the cylinder on top like in example 6.

8. This is the shifter halfway in the housing with the cylinders on top
http://i492.photobucket.com/albums/rr282/sexyzenki/photo12.jpg

9. The shifter plate is then placed on top of the springs and screwed into place.

Hope this help everyone. PM me if you are still confused. I'm tired and will try to revise later to be more concise.

I don't have the spring retainer, but Mine seems to be just fine. I've taken it apart about 6 or 7 times.

yes. this was the very reason i did this. because B&M doesnt want you to take apart their product, there is no info on how to do it. ive looked everywhere at anything, diagrams, pics, ect. i found nothing. so at least now there is real information on the web.

sorry B&M lol

So, I have a question. When I assemble my B&M Short Shifter. It's VERY lose and I can see it moving around from the shifter part where the springs are. I am trying to think what it could be.

Thanks
