I just bought a 90 hatch with an sr in it, but it doesnt run, cause the harness is kinda butched.. so i pulled the harness and called ht and asked them how much to fix it, and they guy was a total ass.. he just told me to go online and look at the diagram, and that they wont even touch s13's or the s13 harness anymore...

so i though i was fuked, but i found another wiring diagram at
www.nismo.org
and i rewired the whole thing myself and it only took me about 3 hours... but it was really not fun...

but it was really not fun...

maybe this is the reason HT quit fixing people's butchered harnesses. I'm sure they get a lot of stupid calls every day with the popularity of the swap now, so don't be surprised you got treated like you don't know anything. I hear JWT is even worse at this...

Fixing a butchered harness is a nightmare at best. I don't think you can reasonably expect any SR companies (especially these days) to fix it, unless you are willing to offer a _lot_ of $$$. HT is constantly backordered 3-4 weeks on their harness conversions, so their reply to you is not too surprising..

Although they've always been real courteous to me. Maybe 'cuz I only purchase from them :)

shops won't work on **** they didn't install.
sucks, but thats life.
they have no way of knowing anything about the wiring in your car and it isn't worth their time to go through it.

Heavythrottle has been nothing but great to me in the 1-2 years i've dealt with them. I called them on a SATURDAY afternoon with a blown ECU(they were closed), and had an ECU in my hand by that sunday afternoon (also closed) courtesy of Jeff staying around to sell it to me.

Not to mention the countless times they've helped out with advice, tech questions, and prices.

Great guys, hands down.

You just can't expect someone to take responsibility (and thats what they're doing when they receive your harness) for god knows what kind of **** people try to pass off as complete harnesses these days.

always had good experiences with HeavyThrottle and havent heard any other bad experience from anyone else who has dealt with them, if you have a problem maybe you should take it up with them and not bad mouth them here. Just my .02

they've always been nice to me, in emails and on the phone, nothing but nice and very knowledgable.

might have been the customer not the business!

i have worked in customer service for many years and i've found more often then not, the customer blames the business, even though its their (customer's) attitude [fault] for the lack of help/assistance.

i emailed HT a few times with great responses
ive not heard much negative stuff about them at all these days.

i've heard nothign but good from them. dont defile their name from one lousy situation.

Heavythrottle is usually pretty good man. But, do you blame them for not wanting to bother with the wiring, you yourself said it was a bit*h.

I ordered a Toda Ultralight flywheel from them. There was a problem with the website order. They called me the next day. I expressed urgency in the conversation but they said "3-5 days". Was working on my car the next day and it arrived. WOO WOO! Enabled me to get the SR in before that 20-day streak o freezing weather.

Too bad I live in NY and have to pay sales tax!

I don't think everyone should be giving kickertu such a hard time for posting his somewhat bad experience with Heavythrottle. Everyone on this board knows HT is a good company, but that doesn't mean they do everything perfectly.

My experience w/ HT was mixed. I talked to Jeff twice on the phone - he was VERY helpful. I was preparing to spend $6k on a blacktop, FMIC, 3" catback, clutch and everything else needed for the swap. He said he would cut me a really good deal if I purchased it all from him. In the end all he did is knock $60 off of shipping - WTF this is a 1% discount. I ended up going with Projectsilvia. Robert gives WHOLESALE prices to anyone who buys a clip from him.

I'm not saying HT is bad by any means just that maybe they are so well established and have such a good reputation that they have lost the hunger to satisfy the customer completely.

just my 2 cents

this thread is really starting to bother me... heavy throttle is a very well extablished pillar in the 240 community. they have always strived to set themselves apart in the scene and are some of the nicest guys all around. i dont know how they would view this criticism but i for one would like to see it stopped. they wouldnt fix your butchered harness big deal! i applaud you for researching and doing it yourself! but to say they kinda suck is just immature. instead of bashing companies, lets just try to figure this guys harness out together!

ok, enough of this thread. I don't want HeavyThrottle to be slandered (or the target of libel, as the case may be). I'm not looking to censor anyone here, however, i'd like to keep Zilvia's hands clean of the matter.

As far as I'm concerned, saying that a company sucks because they decided to stop offering a service, or charged you full price on items you bought is asinine. That is the company's prerogative and is well-established business practice. You wouldn't think McDonalds was a bad company if tomorrow they stopped offering McNuggets, or decided to charge you full price, like they always have.
Complaining about not getting a discount is actually kind of insulting. Anytime a company gives a discount, they're cutting into their profit margin in an effort to provide slightly better customer service in hopes that they gain a repeat customer. This means they're taking money from their own pockets in an effort to make you happy. There is not, and has NEVER been any rule saying that they must do this.

Anyway, to the point:
If a company/person takes your money for a product you never receive, or don't receive for a long time or in bad shape, etc. Feel free to post on here and tell us of your experience. This includes bad customer service (Like NiteKids's Wheelmax post), or a crappy install or whatever.
If, however, you have a beef with a company because they refused to do something for you, don't get your shortpants in a bunch. It's their right to not do something. You wouldn't expect Subway to make a McRib sandwich for you, would you? You wouldn't expect Best Buy to 'cut you a deal' on that new flatscreen TV you bought. Are you going to complain about that? Probably not.
