Alright, so i went to install a new flywheel this past weekend and it wouldnt really fit. but somehow we made it fit. put the tranny back up etc etc etc and the starter would just click, thought it was the flywheel. took the transmission back down, put the old flywheel back on, then the tranny back up, starter clicked again once or twice, THEN something hellatious happened. the engine started rolling over, and finally cranked however...the starter was making this godawful very very loud grinding noise for a few seconds and then we cut it off. we discovered one of the two starter bolts were stripped, and my only theories are both bolts have to have a lot of tension on them for the starter to function properly, or the bendix inside the starter is gone and i have to have it rebuilt. please help, this is my daily driver and i have to have it back on the road asap. thanks in advance.

Go get the starter checked at autozone for free... so you can rule that out as the problem.

unfortunately the center hole in the center of the flywheel was apparently not bored out big enough. i thought it was supposed to be a snug fit. luckily the screws were just long enough to hold it to the back of the engine and we slowly got the flywheel to go on...later learning its NOT supposed to be a snug fit and that its just supposed to slide on, we decided to take it back off and ship it back to the company.

*update*
i took my starter to get it checked out today at advance auto parts, they said it worked fine even though it had a strange noise. so i took it to another place and had it looked at, they said the noise it made was just the bushings, they didnt have any grease on them. they greased them back up and put it all back together. i took it back to my car, installed it, even put a nut on the back of the lower bolt since its stripped. i went to connect the battery up after hooking everything else up and the instant the battery wires touched the contacts the engine started to crank! without the key in it or the clutch pressed in. now im guessing theres a wire backwards on the starter or a 12v+ wire is touching the solenoid in the wrong spot. im thinking about just trailering it and taking it to a shop. any more theories?
