the base on top of the whole antenna base? you have to remove your interior from your trunk and remove some bolts that hold the antenna in. i think there are 2 or so 10mm bolts.. there's also a black piece on top that you probably wanna phsically break off with metal pliers. there's probably a better way to take it out.. but when i did it i couldn't get it and i asked the forum but no clues.. so i eventually broke it with force.

"the base on top of the whole antenna base"
?????
no clue what you are talking about.
On my s13, there is the antenna, which threads into a base on the driver's side quarter panel. I took the trim out, and undid the bolts, but the whole thing isn't going anywhere. Its still held in, like the base outside is connected to this piece inside, and I can't figure out how to get them apart.
please advise.

ok I figured it out. unscrew the antenna part, and put some vice grips on that little washer right above the plastic piece. it unscrews like a nut and then the tube and bracket fall off the bottom and the whole thing can be removed.
that top washer/nut piece has two holes in it, I'm guessing there is probably a tool that fits in those holes that would make removal easier, but I don't have one. rubber jawed vice grips do the trick.
