i have a 24" Sceptre monitor, i'm using it right now. excellent monitor. if Sceptre made a 28" i'd buy it in an instant.

I compared it to a 37" Panasonic ($649 on sale) on the left side of the Insignia in the store and after some tweaking , the Insignia looked comparable , if not better. On the right side was a 37" Samsung ( $949 ) and for my money, I'd take this Insignia with more available inputs ( 4 HDMI, 2 componet, 2 standard NTSC A/V inputs including S-video, and more. Not to mention the set has a 2 year warranty."

u can find better tvs with better deals. Just recently my brother picked up a 42 samsung plasma for 600 from bestbuy so look around. Slickdeals is your friend. Also stay away from most of those no name brands, quality sucks, reliability is iffy and warranties are not something to be trusted.

Insignia, Dynex, and Rocketfish are all "Best Buy" brands. Kind of like "Sam's Choice" at Sam's Club.

Its a chill tv but you should get something else if your going for 1080p get 120hz, youll notice alot of motion blur and fuzzyness when playing games and some movies with 60hz.

I'd probably get TVs in this order.
1) Samsung OLED
2) Samsung LCD
3) Panasonic LCD
4) LG LCD
5) Vizio (cheap but definitely good looking, and the HQ is in Irvine i think.)

The TVs that have that plastic-y, thin film like display, sometimes get some images
marked on that. Like the black bars when watching a wide screen movie, or playing a game too much and the HUD just stays on the screen. I've seen it on my friends

That TV is actually very nice for the money. The thing about tvs being in torch mode is usually true with any tv. Though recently I believe tvs are coming out in power saving modes (ie dialed way back) for energy star certs or something.

The guy rating the tvs he likes in order....I dunno how much he's been looking at them. AFAIK there aren't any Samsung OLED tvs out in 37". They do have some LED backlight tvs. Those are still LCD tvs though. I also dunno the credibility of the comment of image retention/burn in. That usually happens on older plasmas and tubes. The phosphor in the area with the static image ages faster and gets dimmer than the other pixels that aren't static, causing you to see a retained image/burn in. LCD's, no matter if they're expensive or cheap, should have that problem. Usually you just get a TV that doesn't have a good response time and blurs images.

If you're looking for a nice, inexpensive set, I wouldn't hesitate to put the Insignia up there with the Vizio's and the cheap 'name brand' sets.

Got it earlier this year it was an open box special.
basically we just saw the tv we wanted and saw that they had the tv box on the showroom floor, opened the box and got the open box special discount for I think around $400?
I thought that I was pretty clever. LOL!

The TV is great BTW no complaints here. I use it as a monitor and everything.

But if you can wait, black Friday is the time. if not look around on-line and if not you can always try my approach just don't get caught! ;)

I had one of those and it literally shit the bed after 2 hours of use. Screen just went black. WTF.

i have a 50" panasonic plasma, it's probably the best purchase ive ever made as far as home electronics are concerned.

the insignia tv's aren't horrible anymore BUT i would never buy one, not when for a few bucks more you can buy a good name brand.

buy a good tv once and it'll last a few years.

i use to work at best buy insignia is the best buy brand. IT IS THE SHITTIEST TV YOU CAN BUY. we would literally sell one and have the customer return it 3 days later because of problems. Dont cheap out on a tv. buy samsung, hitachi, sharp, sony.

Stick with Sony, we have the EXACT same model here in the Office 4 months in, picture is like sucks!!! Then had to call tech support or lack of..... I finally got through to someone that wasn't reading the manual and knew the codes....

Source 7434 is the code to access the tv database and reboot everything.... But overall its kewl..... not too bad

I'd just save up a little extra and/or wait till holiday sales events.

I'd rather save for a better brand at the very least.
A good TV should last you at least 8 yrs or so.
A 2 warranty isn't going to cover that.

Personally I've had the best experience with Sharp TV's.
Also good experience with Panasonic, Pioneer, Toshiba, & Mitsubishi.
Not a fan (or had bad luck) with Sony.

Looking at Newegg, if I had to buy today, I'd opt for a Toshiba 40" 1080p for $630 shipped.
