I just bought a 1990 hatch with an sr installed, and it DID run for about a month and a half.. now it wont do anything..
teh mods so far.
blitz DD BOV
Walbro fuel pump.
stock side mount ic
k&n intake
oil pressure gauge

the battery is charged.. the windows, locks, and lights work like a champ. but thats about it.
if i turn the key on and try to start it the tach goes nuts... it will just bounce from 0 to redline without the motor starting
the starter doesnt even click, there is no noise at all
we tried to push start it, and when we turn the key on we can hear the fuel pump, but when the car starts moving, we car hear the fuel pump turning on and off....

we have been looking for something wrong, and so far we cant really find a whole lot.. the relays seem to be cliking just fine, but we did notice that the engine grounding strap, (on the back of the block, it goes right to the firewall.) is broken. i twisted them back together to see if that would do it, and it still didnt help...

i took the harness off thinking it may be the harness.. cause the guy i bought it from said that there was a ground wire that fried, and when it went it took some other wires out with it... i looked and didnt see any wires that were even burnt....

what should i do?

sounds like intermittent grounding issues get a multimeter and tone out all of your grounds plus look for corrosion on wires and wires that are not hooked up

sounds like something simple.
Is there an alarm on the car?
Check battery connections. Check battery condition. Sometimes a battery or connection will function with a small load, but when you demand a lot from it, it fries and weird stuff happens. Load test the battery. Also, reconnect that ground cable. If it's not hooked up, electricity will find a new path for you. You will find out what that path is when wires start melting.

sounds like your ignition wire is connected to #1 tach wire LOL.

when you start it up the tach gets all kinds of voltage.

the ground wire on the back of the block (the one that goes from the engine block to the firewall) it looks like a braided wire, kinda melted... the plastic piece on teh firewall is melted, and the wire is broken in half,....

there was an alarm on it, but the brain has been taken out.... and the wires are still just chililn

i had a problem similar,..it was the ignitor that died on two of the 4 outputs,...gas,..fuel pump working,..etc...but no ignition...eventually replaced my oem sr20 ignitor with the q45 ignitor,...and it worked...in fact I was having cold start issues for a few weeks before it died all-together. Progressively harder starting and the nothing. But when it was warm it would fire all the time.
