Is there such a thing? My dust boots are pretty worn out and one started to fall apart. Went to Advance auto part today and a rebuild unit is 130 a piece...

Which one should I get? Carlson, Beck/Arnley, or Dorman?
There are 3 set from 7.50 to 56 dollars (the 56 one is for 2 calipers and fits other caliper as well).

Just make sure the caliper is actually worth rebuilding.
If it's seized the piston is probably rusted and scored to crap.

the stock S13/s14 rear calipers are a bitch to rebuild.
i rebuit mine, but boy it wasn't worth it.
it's not JUST a piston. it's got these annoying snap rings DEEP in the caliper itself, and you need a special snap ring tool just for that.
it's also a BITCH to seat the rubber outer dust boots in the caliper.
aseriously just buy rebuilt ones from the auto store.
130 soesn't seem right, you sure you included the core charge in that?

just checked rockauto.com
they have rears for $73.00 (total is $123 for one caliper, but you get $50 back for the core)
so basically you can get 2 rebuilt rears for $146 + shipping.

I agree. Check out the condition of your piston before rebuilding them. They are a poor design and for the price of new/reconditioned ones you could almost buy a Z32 setup.

I am rebuilding mine as well. You cant just buy the rubber seals and call it a day. Take them apart completely and clean them. I mean clean them like get degreaser and brake cleaner new. New brake fluid. there are some good videos on you tube.

So I guess I need the one that cost around 15 bucks then...
I am going to do it, and ask my brother to take pics for me as my first write up.

Buy the best quality kit you can get so you're not doing it again in nine months. But I agree with everyone else, they're usually too damaged to easily rebuild, nor are they worth the effort. You can also check AutoZone, they're sometimes less on core parts like that.

I did do some math on this: Couple years ago, I went to Advance Auto Parts for a pair of Z32 front brakes. They are like 100 each, with a 35ish core charge.
My rear brakes are in pretty good shape. They are not making any noise, and never got stuck from the 2 times I replaced the pads. So if it is like 15 a kit, I will go for it.
Thanks again!!!

Why not just go OEM for the rebuild kit. Its kind of expensive but you'll know the parts will fit perfect.

I bought my kit form Courtesy Nissan a few months ago. It did take a little while to get but eventually received it in the mail.

You don't need a new caliper just buy a rebuild kit. All it is inside is just a piston with 1 rubber gasket, new boots and springs. Just take the old boots and retainer spring off, pop out the pistons. Take out the old seal, then clean the cylinders and pistons. Then oil up the cylinder and pistons with brake fuild, install new seal, push them back in and install new boots and retainers...It's cake and they will be like new.
