So I went to buy some car cleaning stuff and heard mother clay bar works wonders.

Well 1/2 a car done later and a sore arms that about to fall off the diffrence is amazing! My old dull black paint looks new and is glassy shinny and doesn't feel like sand paper anymore! It's acually smooth to the touch and is USDM bliing!

So all in all I high recomend this to anyone. Unless you drive a vw

Yes clay bars are the sh1t. Combining them with wax polish and a good wash your car will look amazing. I have a before and after picture of my car on my computer somewhere i'll look for it. The before picture shows the car pretty dirty not washing it for like a month then the after picture is after clay bar, washing, polishing and waxing, it was such a difference.

Even before Polish and wax the diffrence is still very apparent. Wish I tried this ealiar but better late then never.

I'm sure to everyone else this pic the paint will look exaclty the same as my other pics but me owning the car of course in person the diffrence is amazing. I only have this half of the car done so far w/ no polish or wax yet. I kinda did a half assed job with the clay bar too.

It still would be nice to have a brand new black dent free paint job but I guess my paint isn't as bad as I thought it was. Still very good.

the mother's clay bar has been a total waste of $10 for me, so far. I bought it to try and remove paint overspray thats all over my car, it didn't work at all. :(

I don't think it removes paint

uh.. joking, right?

clay bars remove grit and contaminants from paint, not paint.

if you're trying to remove overspray, try a light buffing compound, the mild abrasive in it should be enough.

In a big yellow stripe across the packaging it reads:

"Removes paint over-spray, fallout and other stubborn contaminants"

That put a huge grin on my face. Your random VW bashing is ignorant, old, and just plain un-warranted.

i think it DOES remove paint-over-spray. cuz it happened to my cousing when he sprayed his taillights, and clay bar worked wonders.

STFU homo. Gawd Henry. Except for the ass-face bumper on your car, you have one of the h0ttest cars on Zilvia. Get rid of the ghey stickers and stop trying to act like you hate your car. :o :D :p

Well it does look nicer but the paint didn't come out as good as I expected though. I'll try to to do it half assed next time.

dude, did you suffer some front end damage? from the last pic it looks like your passenger side corner and headlights don't line up correctly.

Yep! It's the "airflow" gap. the bumper fit like ass. I thinking it was a 3rd gen knock off.

Have you polished or waxed it yet? The clay bar removes contaminants, but without having a good coat of wax on the car, when the showtime spray dries on the paint it looks like ass. Get two good coats of wax on after fully clay barring the car and tell me it doesn't look as nice as it feels.

The best is how smooth and "soft" the paint feels when it's all done.

Does anyone have instructions on how I use my clay bar? I got a Mother's one too, but it didn't come with any instructions, just this lil bar :( I was hoping to use it to get the tree sap off my hood, but i dunno how I'm supposed to use this thing :( Help?
Someone with a scanner maybe? ;)

wash and dry car

ok, spray area with a lubricant (mine came with Showtime Instant Detailer) (do not use water)

glide clay bar over area. back and forth motion using light pressure. apply lubricant to maintain wetness. Feel the area, continue clay bar action till it is sooth.

wipe off excess lubricant with towel.

apply wax

sorry, i don't feel like typing the complete instructions, but you get the cliffs note version =p

Yoshi - make sure you get the Instant Detailer stuff.. The bar doesn't work without it. (or some equivelent)

ah **** it looks the same! Paint still sucks! You dont know what a bad paint job is. Ask alot of the s13 owners and they can tell ya. Unless im one of the few. Your paint looks fine to me.
