Hey guys, this could be a repost, but i searched quickly and didnt see any of you guys post this yet.
Volkswagen L1 Concept on Yahoo! Autos – Pictures, News (http://autos.yahoo.com/auto-shows/frankfurt_auto_show_2009/1106/Volkswagen-L1-Concept)
Its some cool stuff. Not the fastest thing in the world but its pretty cool, and I respect the time and engineering that went into it.
cliff notes for those who are too lazy to read
-Been working on it since early 2000's
-240 mpg (62 miles per liter)
-two cylinder, turbo diesel combines with an electric motor
-two seater, sleek design
-COULD be on the market (not saying the U.S. market..) in 2013

Volt seats four
Volt gets better (estimated) mpg
Volt comes out before 2013
Leaf seats four
Leaf gets better (estimated) "mpg"
Leaf comes out before 2013
looks like they're building the Zune of superefficient cars.

There's no chance that would sell in the US market.
Totally impractical.
Wish VW would allocate their funds to stuff that actually makes a difference.
Such as investing better reliability and some semblance of customer service at their US dealers.
Also, get rid of those shitty outdated KKK turbos they're so fixated with.

Kind of unrelated, but do you guys get all the TDI VAGs over there?
They're pretty much the efficient car of choice in this part of the world. Tdi Golfs, Seats and Skodas are everywhere.

there's been a lot of hoopla about how great the jetta tdi is, but i rarely see them. usually when i see a vw, it's riced out.

TDi's were just sold in CA last year or so.
We have the 2.0l TDi w/ 140 hp & 238 lbs of torque.
It's only avail with the Jetta/Bora now, but will be avail for the Golf & A3 later this yr.
Gets around 30-40 mpg.
Diesel is also the cheapest gas we can get.
It's around 20 cents cheaper than 87 octane.

my friend glenn is rocking a golf TDI here in CA, he likes it.. especially since it doesnt have any power accessories to break.
you'll find seat and skoda overseas, but not here in the states. skoda used to be a czech car company before vw owned it, and now i hear they put the axe in skoda... its either closing or up for sale, didnt follow what happened with them.
