View Full Version : KA24DE with T25 and sidemount setup? Questions :D

Hey guys, I am about to boost my stock KA24DE now and was thinking to setup my own kit instead of buying the ebay full kit for cheap.

I want it to look stealth and stock, so I was thinking to use SMIC

Here is the list so far I want to get after a few searches.

-T25 turbo from SR's
-T25 uppipe and o2 housing
-Turbo manifold (bottom mount) for KA24DE
-stock SR's SMIC
-CX racing SMIC piping for SR20DET
-Intake that fit SR20DET
-oil and water lines
-downpipe

Here are my questions :)

Do I need a Boost Controller?
I am planning to run only about 5psi ~ 7psi, can I use my stock exhaust?
Are the item I listed above able to fit into my KA24DE?
Did I miss anything else that was needed for a KA24DET build?

Thank you very much!

Why not just use stock side mount piping??? Is it suppose to be aluminum??? If so, i would say the stock piping looks more stealth.

if they will fit fine, then I guess I will use the stock piping :D
But I am not sure if the SR stock piping will fit KA, do you think I can do that?

most of it will work. I think you have to trim the TB section or get a coupler.

Search for S14UNIMOG's thread on his Ka-t. He did that shit and did it LEGIT.

You don't need a boost controller if the spring inside your wastegate is the right boost you want. They come in different pressures.

5-7 psi might start choking a bit on a 2.25" exhaust.. I'd upgrade to at least 2.5"

And you missed the biggest part.. tuning and ignition control. DONT CHEAP OUT ON THIS! for simplicity get an Enthalpy ECU or Nistune/CALUM. Do some research to decide which is better for you.

Oh, and your list doesn't even have a wastegate or blow off valve.. though I'd argue you don't need a BOV for the setup you have listed.

Here's my old setup, the engine bay looks cleaner than that now but whatever.

I know my setup isn't perfect but it's lasted a year and a half now, I put a gti-r t28 on it earlier this year and everything is still good to go, just need to put the 550's in, hook the meth up then turn the boost up and get it tuned.

Thank you very much for your help :)

Actually, can I use the stock BOV on the stock SR's SMIC? and the stock wastegate from the T25?

once again :D Thanks!

OP: Uhh, you need engine management. As well as injectors. WHY HASN'T ANYONE MENTIONED THIS?!

Sup Evypoo. Are you still down there or what? We need to go out for a drink. Haven't seen you since last summer.

Just get an n60 mafs for like $30 from a pull and pay, get some 370cc injectors for $100 shipped, then get a calum ecu for $350ish and you'll be set, use the stock sr bov, get a cold air intake cut it like mine, cut the cold pipe on the smic and mate them. This setup is super easy. Also all you'll need to do is get the 370cc stock fuel pressure, n60 .bin from calum and you'll be up and running in no time. Also might want to move to a colder plug, I think i have bkr7e's or something like that.

lol i didn't now he did that, he seems like a pretty straight shooter and knows alot about nissans. i was primarily telling him to look up threads that he made. i remember he had a thread showing pictures and stuff. it was a really clean stock looking ka-t.

here it is, i found what i was referring to:

If you are interested, I have a GT2560R for sale (T28, JDM S14 Turbo's).

N60 and 370cc will be perfect if you are not planning to boost past 10 psi. I suggest at least a 2.5" exhaust system. You don't need to have a boost controller if you don't want to boost past the factory wastegate (which is ~7psi on a T25). If you have questions, I will be glad to help you out.

You don't have to get an N60 MAFS. I used the stock S14 KA MAFS and it won't max out until almost 10psi. Honesly, I would recommend Nistune before any reflash, its inevitable that your setup will change/grow so why not have full access to your ECU. I used a stock BOV from an Evo VIII on my set up with the S13 SR side mount. Here's the thread Neme was talking about; btw, thanks for the props!

That's why a N60 would be a good thing to have.
