i searched and i didnt find anything useful. heres my current setup. intake, hs header, exhaust, 40 shot nos, a set of a step colder plugs. i have a 60 shot jet sitting in my room but im scared to use it. im worried about detenation. with the 40 shot i get a pretty noticable kick. i want to run the 60 but i dont want to ruin my engine. im thinking of ordering the techtom mdm-100n to monitor the timing. with the 40 shot do i get timing retard? my timing right now is at 18*. if i retard the timing a hefty amount with maybe 2 step colder plugs think i can run a 80-100 safely? what about fuel? will fuel give me any problem? run too lean? i just want to monitor the timing just so i can use the nos to it fullest without any retard. is that possible?
i know none of this makes sense but its 5:28 in the mourning.

Running Nitrous on a car is never totally safe, in the long run, it will just end up messing up something. Be careful man, I'd hate to see the 240 messed up.

The default response from people without nitrous is "it'll mess up your engine." I'm not nitpicking yet, but how founded is this? Any performance modification will tend to put more strain on the motor, what makes nitrous so different?
The most frequent number I hear for an otherwise stock engine seems to be a 50 shot, I'd imagine you'd start running into fuel issues much above that. Retarding the timing is a cheap way to help reduce the risk of detonation, but it will do nothing to prevent you from leaning out.

I think i remember having read Limecreek motorsports web page and it said that something like 1 or 200 hp can be had with nitrous and fuel management on a stock block. might want to e-mail them
EDIT:
read all about it (http://www.limecreekmotorsports.com/project240SS.htm)
