Does anyone have the torque specs for the bolts on the control arm and tension rod. I just replaced both and want to torque to spec. Thanks

Why would you take someone's word for torque spec's? Just get the FSM and avoid checking this post for conflicting numbers and misinformation!

Thanks guys. I got them all except it doesnt show the torque specs for the nut with the cotter pin that is attaches the front control arm to the hub/spindle assembly. I ask this because i tightened the nut lower then the cotter pin hole so the cotter pin just lies on top which doesnt seem right.

you didnt say balljoint now.

you just need to tighten the bj nut just so that you can apply the cotter pin

bj... nut... :wackit:

is your nut a crown style? or standard style? balljoint nuts differ apparently

if its a crown style.. tighten it until you can slip the cotter into a slot
if its standard.. tighten until you can see the whole to apply cotter.

i guess the directions are one in the same

ITs the nut that holds the control arm closest to the rim. It is a crown. Thank you i thought i should loosen it and just cotter pin around the crown. It just seemed like it could be tightened lower so i did dumbly.

There is a procedure to tighten the balljoint nut. You have to torque it to a specified amount then back it off a certain degree I believe. I'll check later for you.

Thanks. If i make it so the cotter pin goes right on top of the crown nut i can still hand tighten the nut a few more full turns. Any guidance is appreciated. I cant beleive its not in the fsm.

Alright, searched through the FSM, the ball joint gets torqued to 71.5-87.8. There is no special procedure for it. I was thinking about the hub castle nut. These specs are for an S14, but I would highly doubt the procedure is different for the S13. I would get it to 71.5ftlbs, then trq it down tighter to line up the castle nut slots with the hole in the ball joint. Once you get them lined up slide the cotter pin in and fold the ends over.
