OK, so I just installed a J30 VLSD into my S14 today. I've seen many different things. I've seen people say that improper backlash can cause whine or that it's the carrier bearing. I've even seen bad gear oil as a posted cause.
Problem: Drivetrain whines (From rear?) when there is little or no acceleration/deceleration. It is NOT gear based as I can be going 60mph and in neutral and the whine may be there. It mostly happens in fourth although it can also happen in fifth. The whine does not occur during moderate to hard acceleration. Anyone want to tell me what the fuck I just did to my car?
