Hey guys so i'm in the process of hooking up my AEM UEGO wideband and just had a quick question about the wiring.
When soldering or connecting the wires to the +12v/Signal can i just splice them into the appropriate wires from inside my engine bay or do i have to extend the wires even further and splice them into somewhere closer to the ECU?
Pretty much there are +12v/Signal/Ground wires coming from the ECU that connect to the o2 sensor. Can i just splice into those wires right there or do i have to go down closer to the ECU?
Sorry for the n00b question just curious to know.
Thanks!

are you trying to hook up your wideband box to the stock o2 sensor? cuz that's not gonna work. you need to buy the wideband sensor to go with the box. factory o2 sensors are narrowband and won't work correctly with a wideband box.
You usually need to weld another bung onto the exhaust for the wideband sensor. does that answer your question?

Oh no sorry.
I knew i wasn't making myself clear.
I've already got my bung welded on my DP and the wideband sensor in it. That part is hooked up to the guauge sitting in my pod gauge but the part im a bit confused on is hooking up the other wires (+12v~red/Blue~serial output which i thnk is signal from ECU?
The signal wire comes from my ECU and goes into the connector on the stock o2 sensor. Can i just splice it somewhere around there, or do i have to splice somewhere closer to the ECU?

a wideband has nothing to do with the ECU. it's a standalone tool for monitoring A/F...the ECU doesn't have provisions for reading wideband outputs...
I did some quick searching and it looks like all you really need is the +12v and ground for the thing to work properly. I guess the serial output is for data logging (optional).
do you have the instructions/wiring diagram that came with it?
EDIT; Are you talking about tapping into the 12V on the stock 02 sensor harness to power the wideband? if so, that's an option, but all you really need is a 12v source that comes on with the ign. so you have many options

Yes i have the instructions that came with it.
There are 4 wires that need be to be hooked up.
RED ~ +12v Power
BLACK ~ Ground
BLUE ~ Serial Output
WHITE ~ Anaglog Output
EDIT: I believe i see * next to the last two and it says optional....Haha man im an idiot.

OK, here's the deal.
You want to wire the wideband's +12V to the ignition, so it turns on as soon as possible - it needs to warm up before it sees exhaust or you'll cook the sensor over time. It's a pain in the ass to wire it to the stock +12V heated o2 sensor lead, so I'd just tap the black/red (or black/white, depending on where you tap) ignition-switched +12V lead.
The wideband controller/sensor's ground should be connected at the same grounding point as the wideband gauge - the AEM unit might have the controller and gauge in the same housing, but the Innovate units do not, and this is sometimes an issue with mismatched readings. Regardless, just ground it inside the cabin to a good ground (like a wire-wheeled section of the dash support).
The white analog output mimics the narrowband signal the ECU is looking for, so you could technically remove/plug your factory o2 sensor, pull the wiring through, and use the wideband controller's narrowband output for the ECU. I'm running my LC1 like this. In that case, you'd want to tap the ECU's o2 sensor signal wire with the white narrowband signal wire.
The serial output is used for datalogging... since the crappy AEM wideband doesn't give you datalogging built in, you'd have to have an external logger. You most likely won't use this.
