can you tell if it is a good bov or should i not waste my money. i know that it is loud and that is what i want. i read that it is made for cars running 10 to 25 psi, but would it still work if i was running 7psi?

loud dosent begin to describe the cry the RFL gives out under heavy load. will turn head for sure, if it dosent blow them off first.

RFL's don't give the traditional sound, they are like a bomb going off. They are loud!

Anybody wanna go over cautions of a BOV to atmosphere and what you need to do to make it work right? I would, but I don't know the subject too well :P
anyone got any sound clips or video?

Can you define 'loud'? Loud as in my a firetruck siren loud, loud as in a loud screetch??

I had one on my 2000 si with ta t4 turbo setup at 7psi is was not loud, not as loud as a greddy type-s but at 15psi take cover. The air release hole is huge so i takes a good bit of air to get any real noise out of it, but if theres enough it sounds great.. I would say 10psi should be good

im guessing with say a T3/T4 pushing 15-20psi it would make one hell of a noise

well let's see... Turbo-XS lists the standard Type-H at 109 decibels from about 3 feet away (hood open), so I'm guessing the Type-H-RFL is, well, Really F-in' Loud

atmospheric bov ...
on stock computer it can leak at idle which makes the car stumble and possibly die at idle. even if its closed at idle, when the bov vents air between shifts, since it has already passed through the mafs the computer has already metered it and prepared fuel for it, and since the air isn't there it can make the car hestitate during/after shifts.
The solutions? first, band aid, product like apexi safc with atmospheric bov setting... or you could get a fuel computer.
second, recirculate the bov...
third, do a blow through mafs conversion where the bov is before the mafs so the computer doesn't meter the air that gets blown off.

what is keeping you from mounting your MAF after the blow off valve? That way there is no unaccounted for air and you can make big wooooosh noises all day, but less fireballs:D

how would i do that???????????

cut the intercooler pipes after the blow off valve and weld in the MAF.
My post was one of general thoery, why does everyone have thier BOVs after the MAF? All i ever read about BOV is that they mess up the idle and make the car run rich at shifts. Placing the BOV after the MAF would fix both of those problems because all air would be accounted for at all times. Does anybody know why I dont see more cars with this setup?
Again, this post is just thoery, my car is NA and will be for about 2 more years, but I am just curoius.

i guess people are daunted by the task of removing the clips for the mafs wires off the head and moving the mafs to the other side of the engine bay. alot of the guys over at unstable hybrids run this setups, none of them have had a problem yet. this is the system im going to use for sure.

me too.. makes more sense. either recirculate or blow through.
