im just windering if it is better to install an stb with the car on the ground or jacked up with no weight on the front wheels. any differance in the 2 ways? thanks, matt

interesting thought on that..

I cant say for sure, although I would think it doesnt make a difference, does anyone know?

im thining that if you measure across the engine bay from the st bolt to bolt, and than compare that to a car jacked of the ground, the numbers would be different. with the car jacked up wouldnt the geometry of the wheels be more \-------/ ?

Ask yourself "what is the purpose of a strut tower bar?", and you'll have you answer!

...if you answered with "to prevent camber change from the strut tower mounting points flexing 'in' and 'out' when loaded with a lateral force", it would make the most sense to install the bar at ride height to a 'snug' fit (with the strut tower bolts out, the bar not able to move in any direction).

Introducing preload between the strut towers would start to negate the advantages sought after with using the bar.
