thats what i did with the 3rd gen iPod . Bought it a week or 2 before the 4th gen came out. i went to best buy told them it had 1 problem and they returned it gave me the 4th gen and since the 4th gen was cheaper i got cash back.



Hopefully you bought it at best buy and its less then 30 days old. and/or you also bought the protection plan. becuase if you have the protection plan on your 4th gen you can return it for the new one

with me and alot of people we buy an ipod when or around it comes out, use it every day and after a year its banged up scratched up. and droped a few times.

The new nano is just gimmicky.
Most of the 'improvements' are gadgets that don't have anything to do with an mp3 player.
Only good thing is that the price went down by $20 and the larger screen.

Wish it had more capacity though, as 16gig isn't a lot.
Even expansion flash memory slots would have been nice.
They should have thrown in a built-in equalizer with more adjustability.
DAC bypass would have been great for those who use it with their home stereo/computer.
A built in amplifier would have been really cool, although maybe that is unreasonable.

As much as I hate Apple products in general, few other mp3 options are as good.
it's probably the best player out there for integration into car audio.

not really the same pricing.
The 8gig versions have a $50 diff ($150 vs $200)
The 16gig nano vs. the 32gig itouch have a $120 diff ($180 vs $300).
According to the apple site, there isn't a 16gig itouch.
Apparently now there is a 64gig itouch, but it a hefty $400.

Then you have the bulkier ipod classic w/ 120gig @ $240-ish.
Looking at the apple site, I see now it's a 160gig unit.

Way I see it, the only need for the nano is if you use it for exercise.
It even has that built in exercise-o-meter, whatever you call it.
Even that's arguably unnecessary.

Think the best 'workout' mp3 player is probably the Sandisk clip 8gig @ approx $75 shipped.
Seems to get good reviews.
Size is a tad bigger than i-shuffle, but much smaller than nano.
Sound quality is nicer than the nano or shuffle.
Plus, you have some controls unlike the shuffle.

I've owned 2 nanos. 2nd Gen which was stolen and a 3rd Gen that I just recently put thru the wash.

I do like the fact that there is a FM tuner on this one. I may actually pic it up. Its rough working out or even wrenching without the constant stream of music flowing thru my head.

I've been interested in other MP3 players, but I guess I'm just a bitch when it comes to that stuff. I know that the iPod is a tried and true piece so I stick with it.

I'm definitely not an apple fanboi, and only have an iphone because a friend sold me it very cheap, but now I'm used to it I couldn't go back to any of my old phones.

This ipod nano does look good, but I don't really see the point in spending too much on an mp3 player when modern phones do so much. I would of thought they'd put their effort into putting these features into their phones, whilst keeping costs down.

only reason i have one is because it was the company xmas gift last year...its pretty neat to, our company logo is laser edged into the back, makes it special...the scuffs and scratches on the other hand dont...im good with 4 gigs of music...

I agree fully. I just got a 3Gs, I will not be buying what ever new Iphone debuts next summer. If Iphones are still offered with AT&T in two years, I might then upgrade. Then again buy then something better might be out.
