how much have you guys paid to have tires mounted on new rims. i went to one place and they told me that they couldnt do it because of legal reasons, and the other place wanted $25 a wheel. i payed $7 per wheel to have tires put on my old tempo. what gives with this being so much more? thanks.

i had one back in the day too..damn that car sucks. got 30 bucks for it giving it to the junkyard. POS
anyways, yeah its ridiculous.
go to the SAME SMALL mom n pop shop over and over and over, and you'll get good prices (discount)
avoid the bigger name shops they don care about you just want the $$$$
stick w/ small shops and whne you do DONT be afraid to negotiate. many are willing to get your business and willing to go the extra mile. if you go there often, they'll get to know u and be more willing to help out
Tell us what tires you're putting on what wheels, first. If you're stretching a 215/45/17 onto a 9"wide wheel, then a lot of places will refuse to install it... if you're slapping a 185/65/14 on a 5" wide wheel, then there's no reason why places shouldn't put it on.
Average price for average wheel/tires (205 on a 7" wheel) will cost around $10/wheel for mounting and balancing. If you go to a cheapo shop who use hammer-on wedge weights for balancing, try $5 - 7 per tire.

haha, i used to have a mercury topaz, hit a pole and put a tempo front end on it,
yeah, you should be able to get it done cheaply for less than $10, find a local gas station/repair place. i go to the same one all the time, i pay 4cents more per gallon but i dont care, get to know people, you would be amazed at what a 12-pack will get you!!
