Can not open my hood

i can't pop my hood.... help!!! no responce from the cable... i reached under the bumper and felt the cable, there is alot of slack on it, i cant see it but i think the part that connects the cable to the hood is broken.... how can i pop my hood? i can reach only under my car

I had a similar problem in my '89 for a while. The handle would pull but the hood woudn't pop. In my case the mechanism released and it only took a quick pound on the hood to pop it up. It went away after some use.

if this happens to anyone, u can talk off the 3 12mm bolts that holds the latch down....
