The braces on ebay are cheap.
And I know (especially with those cheap mufflers) that you get what you pay for. BUT a strut tower brace doesnt need to be real expensive if you think about it. They dont wear out, move, or really do anything. I think I can get them in the front and rear for my 93 240SX for like 80 bucks shipped (and the exchange rate to Canada)
so that aside, has anyone ever used these before? I have friends with them in Civics who swear by them, but is the difference really noticeable at all or? (assuming I do front and back)
and to install them, just take off the stock bolts, slip the brace on and reinstall the bolts over it right??
Thanks

my answer:
wrong it does wear
it reduces chassis flex
the bar recieves some pretty heavy loads
i wouldnt trust a EBAY pos when im on the track
but that's just me
the other guy's answer:
dude, these STB f'in rock. i was like pulling 10 gs at the track and the car was so much flatter. i would like totally recommend it 100 times bro. go for it!
yes, you get what you pay for.
would u trust a beefy bar or a toothpick sized bar? i took the beefy.
install a STB is as easy as taking off a girls underpants. any monkey can do it, even when drunk.

Nice....
Well I dont race mine on a track (usually) and im not really unhappy with the body stifness now as it is, I mean the braces are pretty thick looking anyhow, or maybe I just havent seen the "beefy" ones your talking about.
Ill give it a shot, see what happens. I just hope I can notice the difference!

Actually, what makes the cheap braces cheap is all in the end plates. The bars are usually nice and solid, no problems there. The end plates have messy welds and the paint isn't perfect.
Flex of the bar is no big deal anyway - they take their biggest loads in tension.
There are worse things you could spend your money on.
Cheap bars work in my 240SX.
I have expensive name brand stuff in my GTI so I know the difference, side by side.

Cool, thanks, the GTI VR6 is a beautiful car... And I dont care too much about messy welds and paint, the people at the OilSpray place have caked layers of oily grease all over everything under the hood anyways so theres nothing to look at. Aaah well, better than rust!
