View Full Version : Replace injectors on rebuilt engine?

I just rebuilt my KA, a stock rebuild for daily driver use, nothing special or fancy. The engine is back in the car and runs OK, but not a super smooth idle. The idle had been slightly irregular when under 1,000 rpm and the engine would shake back and for a bit on each full revolution, but if I revved it up above 1K rpm, it would be smooth.

Tested resistance on each injector and was 12ohm on each. Ran some injector cleaner in the gas and that helped some, but the idle is still not perfect. IACV has been thoroughly cleaned, timing is acurate and there are no valve leaks. Plugs, distributor and wires are new.

My questions: The car has 193,000 miles, so the stock injectors are most likely the originals. Should I spend the money and buy rebuilt stock injectors? I want to get another 100K miles out of this car. So just to be safe on a newly rebuilt motor and help fix the unsmooth idle issue, would you replace the injectors?

did u pull the injectors when u did the build?
if so, did u buy new orings?
that is often a culprit of bad injectors. replace both orings on the injectors first. go from there.

It's a KA24DE.

I left the injectors in the rail, but I don't believe I changed the o-rings. I think my gasket rebuild kit came with new o-rings. Let me try that first and see if it makes a difference. Good suggestion.

Make sure your FPR is good as well.

Fuel Injectors not firing... everything is good new spark plugs/wires, cap, rotor, fuel injactors, pressure test is good. i found the problem but don't know what to do. I don't really know how to work on a nissan. The problem is that the car runs but only on cylinders 2 and 4. the problem is that injectors 1 and 3 are not firing. I tested all four injector wires and only 2 and 4 gets an electrical pulse, but no electrical pulses go to injectors 1 and 3. I was wondering if anyone out there can help me i have searched and found nothing like this. It's a 1990 nissan axxes, it has a KA24E motor same as in a Stanza and a 240. Is it a sensor that controls the injectors to fire, or is the ECU bad?

Thanks for jacking my thread. In the future, please start your own thread.

Your wiring is probably bad on the harness or the ECU is messed up. Try a known good ECU and see if that makes a difference, otherwise, carefully inspect your harness for any loose/damaged/broken wires.
