I couldn't remember the answer. Also... how much can I expect to pay to have the LSD completely installed?

I have moderate mechanical ability, would it be worth doing it myself, or is this a mechanic only job?

I know a guy (he has a Z shop) and he wants $900 cdn (about $580 US) to do the swap.  He supplies the LSD, and he keeps my old diff.

I found one at a junkyard here too, and he wanted $750 for just the lsd.  So, it all depends on how much you can find the lsd for.  In my case, for $150, I'd rather have a pro do it.  But, if I could find the lsd for $400-500, then I'd probably do it myself.  Remember, it's a full-day or full-weekend job.

Cool. I'd probably have a shop do it then. There's a good shop by me that's REALLY cheap and have never had any complaints.

The LSD should cost you about $300 U.S. and install should be about 2 hours of labor at the most.  Then you need a couple quarts of good gear oil.   $500 U.S. is the top price you should pay...parts and labor.

Sweet. So should I be looking in a junkyard only or is there a place to get them new?

it's not like a differential needs to be bought new either... those will last for quite some time, right?

junkyards are great for parts like that.  they're well covered from the elements and are towards the center of the vehicle, so even if the car was crashed, the lsd likely wasn't touched.

kinda like getting new control arms.  no need to buy new parts, cause they're just metal.  its not like they're gonna wear out.  as long as they're not bent, theyre ok
