I just installed a new alternator and starter today and now nothing is working. The car turns over and starts, but no lights or anything come on. I checked all the wiring and its all in place. Everything was working right after I installed them, I left it for like 6 hours, went out and started the car, and it turned over but made a weird noise and turned off. Then I started it again, gave it some gas and it was fine except for the electrical. The only light is the alternator light but its very dim. No electrics work even when its on but the car is not started, but the battery is fine. I'm so confused. Any help would be amazing. Thanks everybody.

What exactly do you mean by loose harness? I will check it out when it gets light out.

so it was the alternator fuse, thank you, but now i keep blowing fuses. ive gone through three in the last week. and its not like they last for a little while either. they blow right when i put them in. i thought that the positive wire going from the battery to the starter was loose (its relocated) so i tightened it up but it still pops. what do you guys think could be the problem assuming its the right alternator? im 99% sure it is.

make sure the negative is on the alternator its the thinner black wire.
also make sure the plug is all the way in for the alternator signal i think its a two wire plug.
and dont relocate your battery and connect it with the alternator to extend it tie it with the starter!
Check these and go from there!

the battery is connected to the starter. and i bought the car with the battery already relocated. but i will check those as soon as i can. im pretty sure the negative is connected. maybe i got the negative and positive backwards? the positive connects to the screw on the left side of the alternator right?

there is a smaller gauge wire thats the neg its attached to the case of the alternator
the pos is the thicker wire most likely a white/red wire and its atatched to the terminal with a stud on the alternator you cant mix this up!!
