Hi I was wondering when using a 350z clutch with a rb20 flywheel are we suppose to use a 350z throw out bearing or a regular 240sx throw out bearing?

Thank you.

Throwout bearing as applicable to the transmission used is the way it usually is.

I have the White Bunny (http://zilvia.net/f/archive-faqs/103951-white-bunny-special-240mm-clutch-how.html) setup in my car and that is what I did with no problems. I'm not sure how far from that what you're doing is, but I cannot imagine it being too too different.

okay so the throw out bearing that would need to be used is a 240sx one not a 350z one since it applies to the tranny not the clutch being used?

Random Fact... The 97+ 240SX got the TOB sharing the same part number to that of a Z32, while the 96- got a diff part number. (info per my friend the parts manager at my local nissan dealer) I don't know if one is better than the other though...

why would you use an rb20 flywheel when the flywheel is used to balance the engine

well this setup is like the white bunny setup. it uses a flywheel almost identical to our ka flywheel but the clutch contact surface is 240mm instead of 220-225mm.

I used a 350z TOB and now I am having slipping issues on my brand new clutch. Guess I gotta take out the transmission again and stick a 240sx throw out bearing in there.

The flywheel is not used to balance ANY Nissan engine made in the past few decades... :duh:

Actually, the 350Z clutch is closer to 250mm, at 9 7/8" compared to the 9 1/2" for the White Bunny.
I'd also understood that the TOB was to be used based upon the transmission, and it so happened that the one from the clutch kit I used (mid-grade NAPA one) was identical to the KA one from my 1995 transmission anyway.
I had not cared to look into THIS setup until this morning, and even then only did so to make sure the 24-splines was similar. I know nothing about the RB flywheel though, as this is the first time I had heard of it mentioned for this setup.

which flywheel did you use with your 350z clutch? you cant use a 350z flywheel since it has a 8 bolt pattern instead of the ka 6 right?

I did not use the Z33 clutch, I used the Z31/32 clutch, and the flywheel I used was from the 1993 D21 pickup, which has the KA bolt pattern because it has a KA as well. Usable exchange part numbers are named in the thread I linked in my first response in this thread.

ah I see ya i knew about that setup too but I decided to go for the 350z as it had the bigger contact patch. I had asked on another board regarding which to use at which time I was given incorrect information that i kept using this time around too :(.

I also called competition clutch since they offer a 350z pressure plate with a 240sx clutch disk and they use a 240sx throw out bearing as well! which leads me to believe the issue HAS to be with the TOB as the only things that can make a clutch slip are the clutch assembly, the tranny, oil, or trany linkage which the TOB is part of.

just a heads up for everyone I was able to fix this with adjusting the bolt on the back of the clutch pedal!

so you CAN use a 350z throw out bearing with a 240sx transmission :)
