It's been more than six months since Stillen started working on their Nissan GT-R race car (http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/25/stillen-begins-work-on-rally-ready-nissan-gt-r/) and we're happy to report it's finished and already on its way to Eastern Canada where it will compete in the Targa Newfoundland in a few weeks. Before the hopped-up GT-R was loaded on the trailer, Steve Millen and his crew took the car out to the El Toro Marine base for a few shakedown runs. Road and Track tagged along to record some performance numbers that, as you might expect, are nothing short of impressive.

Thanks to a huge list of performance parts, the Stillenized GT-R produces 620 horsepower at 15psi from its dual turbochargers. Perhaps more importantly, several hundred pounds have been removed thanks to a stripped interior, lots of carbon fiber body components and lightweight racing seats. The extra power and weight savings results in a 0-60 mph time of just 2.9 seconds and a 1/4 mile pass in a mere 11.0 seconds at 127.9 mph. Lateral grip is a gut-clenching 1.1g. You can see the Stillen GT-R in action in the video after the jump (http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/28/stillen-nissan-gt-r-620-horsepower-0-60-mph-in-2-9-seconds-w/) or browse through the high-res gallery below.

lol i like how a 600+ hp, awd, purpose-built monster of a car isn't cool enough for zilvia, but take a $1500 shitbox, dump it beyond reason, then put 9" wide wheels on stretched 205 wide tires with 8million mm spacers and all of a sudden its the coolest thing ever.

I think Ken Block needs a GTR for his next car.

I know it's not apples to apples, but as far as AWD goes Ken Block just tickles my fancy more. That GTR is just so mechanical and rigid.

I wonder how long the tranny will hold up to all that power.

I wonder until when a GTR with a broken tranny will be your problem, unless you have a rich daddy.

Hm I don't remember the part where I said it was my problem, oh wait I didn't. I did however pose a question to a car that is known to have transmission issues.

Your comments, says one of three things.

1. You are confused at how a discussion about something works.
2. You somehow misread my post
3. You are a fucking retard.

I am inclined to go with either 1, or 3. And if you do happen to see this post and respond with some unintellginet banter of "fuck you blah blah etc." Go ahead, I don't care, I won't even pay it any attention what so ever.

Now back to the topic, I read in one of the tuner mags, (super street, modified mag, don't remember which) that one of the Japanese tuning companies might be coming out with something that will help with this whole weak tranny issue.

i heard about the trannies breaking after numorous hard launches but I kinda think it's BS to a certain extent. I think there would be a catastrophic recall frenzy on nissan if that was a big issue.

Crazy car nonetheless, the g's on 0-60 acceleration must be an experience O_o

That'd be nice, but I was under the impression that it wasn't a simple part that's breaking, it's a design flaw on a greater level.

Recalls only happen when they think they have something to lose by not taking action, and they have a reasonably priced fix in mind. Neither of these are the case with the GTR trans problem, from what I'm hearing.

About the G-forces, any 1000cc or larger sportbike can launch harder than that :) 2.5sec 0-60's are the norm, on street tires. 0-100mph in 6, all in 1st gear! 0-100-0 in under 8 - that's damned near F1 territory!

All for $5k used in great shape. Look for the GSXR badge on the side, with the '1000' label on the tail. :coold: /rant.
