lately my SR has had what sounds like a lifter tick, only on cold start ...sometimes..or after a few laps on track..then it goes away.
so today i took the valve cover off and tried to see if i can notice anything ..well i cant see much but i did notice some ware on the cam shaft on one of the sections.
my question is how can i know for sure what the noise is...and what can i do about it.
im guessing change the hydrolic lifter on that port...?
its such a wierd thing and only happening sometimes but i feel like its becoming more frequent ..but it could be just me.
i just do not like starting my car and hearing a mad clicking for a while..
someone help!!

if your noticing wear on you cam shafts then you need to check your oil pressure.
you oil pump maybe going out.

exhaust leak.
check for broken studs
trust me, i thought i had a ticking lifter also. turned out i broke one of the lower studs (couldn't see it with a basic visual check). fixed that and ticking went away.

Do you have rocker arm stoppers? No matter just little harder to test.
With the valve cove off push down on the rocker arm directly over the lifter, if there's play or a click, bleed all the lifters. This will cut down on the ticking noise.
The cam wear issue could be from many things, but i guessing it's the lobes not the shaft, where you noticed the wear. try some cam lube until you can pull those cams, bleed the lifters and check oil pressure

Its your oil pump IMO. Mine did the same....ticked off and on till I checked pressure and changed out the oil pump.

okay well from talking to others im also lead to believe the oil pump is failing...i do not have a oil pressure gauge so im going to buy one today, and hopefully i can tell if its the pump or not from this..?
is there any other signs i can see that would tell me its the pump failing?
