recently, my front right wheel has been making really weird noises when going over bumps or anything of that nature. the sound is exactly like driving with loose lug nuts and thumping. my coilovers are practically new, and show no signs of leaks or anything. its only on that one corner of my car and its really annoying me.. any idea of what it can be? could it be my strut rod? something loose? or is my coilover leaking/blown? and i drive an s13 if thats any help. thanks in advance

check most likely culprits first
-wheel bearing
-balljoint
maybe tie rod end too, but i doubt it.
tighten the hell out of everything while you are at it. nut on the hub, tension rod, crown nuts, etc.

assuming all those check out, yes, it could be the coilover itself. i had that exact problem on a set of silkroads. after replacing both front wheel bearings and front ball joints, a local directed me to the coilover itself. you could feel the play if you grabbed the coilover near the middle and shook the hell out of it. at low speed over bumps the symptom is as you described; it felt like something was very loose on that corner. you could hear/feel the play as a slight clunk.

my car does this too! well, maybe not exactly... but almost every time i go over a bump/rough patch, i hear a "clink"ing noise. haha its coming from my drivers side front, and ive inspected everything but to no avail. im running stock shocks/springs, so idk what could be the problem... thanks!

ive checked underneath and at most the strut rod/ball joint is cracked where the rubber is, other than that the wheel bearing is fine. i just got back from the mechanic and he told me it could possibly be the strut rod since its cracked, or it could possibly be the coilover. he told me to take off the coilover and reinstall it. i dont get how it could be the coilover though, theyre practically new megan streets and i havent even hit any potholes or anything yet.

I have the same noise but mine turned out being bad worn out brake hardware the clips
that hold the brake pads in rattle with the pads in the calipers and when i press the brake
it goes away!!

i had similar problems but mine make the sound if i go in reverse and press the brake as the weight transfers it makes a cling sound. and yes bumps toot sometimes. my problem was the ball joint so if you havnt check it out.

yeahh im starting to think its either my ball joint or the brakes.. cause the noise does go away when i press the brakes... but its weird how its only on my front left corner
