ok well short thread. mostly for the doubters

i drive a 92 240sx

i got a 91-93 HUD cluster (just cluster)
and subharness

after 1.5 hours of work, its in my fastback
i used the stock (non hud) dash
and NO, i did NOT use the HUD itself

just the cluster

fits great, works great and no problems
no splicing necessary :)

looks great! nothing like a HUD cluster in a fastback. its cooooool

what u need:
same generations HUD cluster
same generations HUD subharness
basic tools and some brain power
1.5-2 hours free time

nope! no pics

That's cool i always wanted one of them...was it hard to figure out?

figure what out?
basically just took out old, and swapped harnesses and cluster
put back together

that's it!
kid's stuff

oh color of cluster..
i was going to go red color (my friend has replaced all his bulbs w/ red and it looks SWEET and bright) but im poor, so took off all the blue tips (which make it green) in the cluster bulbs

so my cluster is like a barfy/orangey yellow. it looks pretty nice actually, its not green just a yellowish/orange.

i replied it. dude, once u got the cluster out the bulbs are SOOO EASY. like a 1 out of 10 install
its right there on the back, you wont have any problems

as far as changing you gauge face, that's a PITA

Hmm sounds like a good deal, it's good for the lazies who hate locating the needle and loooking at the speedo and finding out how fast your going :D .

Your lights were green, i thought they were white stock?

haha..
actually the speedo on the hud doesnt work, its just the RPM and the other various lights (check engine, oil, gas, etc)

i get speed in KPH on the RSM

i got it because when i go drifting, its just one thing to look at it and i can see off the bottom of my eyes. :) espeically at night :) hehe..and it looks good.

yeah my old cluster lights were greenish

I put a hud cluster in my fastback too. I like the position of the tach a lot better, because i like the steering tilt kind of low and sometimes i couldnt see the top part of the analog clusters speedo and tach.

the HUD cluster is the one with the center mount tach and digital speedo right?.

i like that one.

if you put it into a FB will the speedo hook up the same?

Yep, no modifications required if its from the same years 89-90 or 91-94.

Well with my JDM one a few light bulbs had to be rearranged, but i think thats just because it was 89-90 cluster in a 93.

Aaron,

I know you use the RSM for your speed, but i thought that was due to your old cluster being bad. Is this HUD unit bad as well, or will swapping the HUD into any non originally HUD-equipped S13 not allow the digital MPH to work, only the RPM?? If so I may not do this...

My digital speed works. It should work as long as the it works at all. Also its not year specific.

year specific only for generation: 89-90 and 91-93 (i heard)

no my old cluster was NEVER bad.

the digital speedo deal didnt work, it didnt work from previous owner, i could have fixed it but i reallly dont care about it.

Nice! :)

Thanks for the info on how easy it is to switch one in. I used to want one of these. But I heard the digital readout and the HUD always messes up on these things.

Also I do not want it because I found out there was another cluster for the 180SX from the Blacktop which looks nice.
