you can either cut it off, pinch the end of the tube and weld it or you can take the whole thing off and put on a plate to block the opening.
you can sell me the fitting for it :)

remove the copper tube, stick a nickel in the whole and tighten the original nut against the nickel, works like a charm every time.

if you cut off the threaded end that actually screws into the block you could fill the entire thing with jb weld and let it sit for a bout a day and then you just made yourself a solid plug with exactly the right threads

Please don't halfass it. There are three bolts that hold down the actual EGR unit itself. It's tucked underneath the back of the intake manifold. All you have to do is remove the three bolts (don't have to remove the manifold) and move it around til you eventually get it to come out. After that you can buy EGR blockoff plates that fit exactly around the hole that goes into the intake manifold. Put some high temp RTV around the ends of it and bolt it back in. (You may have to cut the original three bolts down a little).
By doing this you completely remove the EGR system and you have less clutter around the intake manifold. Here's a link to an EGR blockoff plate you can purchase-
Nissan 240SX 2.4L EGR Turbo Block Off Plate for KA24, KA24E, Ka24DE Engine (http://www.precisionpowerparts.com/storefrontprofiles/DeluxeSFItemDetail.aspx?sid=1&sfid=101252&c=678010&i=134677966)
You will also most likely get a check engine light after removal. Do some searching and you will find that some people buy a resistor from radioshack and plug it into some part of where the EGR plugs into.. this will get rid of the CEL

I just got a EGR blockoff and installed it, and kept all the OEM smog equipment in a box.
That's the best thing to do if you're worried about getting reffed.

I just kept a portion of the egr thing to make an easy template instead of buying an actual blockoff plate. Grabbed some leftover metal, cut this up, and used some rtv.
