i was looking and see some people have had a simaliar but not same prob. what i have is cusco soild motor mounts and nismo tranny mount. the motor mounts are just fine but the tranny cross member is a little off. it sets about 1/2 in back too far i would force them in but i think it would ruin the tranny mount if i do so. any ideas what the problem is? i read in another post the mounts would be swapped left to right on the sr. any truth to that? i matched the motor mounts the same way i had em on with the reg mounts so i would assume that they are the correct. lmk what you think ill get some pics up if need be when i get back from my trip in a couple days. thanks.

ok...so still no luck i wasnt able to force it on so when i have time again im going to try to lift the engine out a little and hook up the tranny mount then try to set the engine back in and see if that works....but in the mean time...any help is great.

you are in the same boat I was in a couple weeks ago. Search next time. My thread should have come up easily.
All I did was jack up from the front of the trans. Its almost impossible to get to the bolts with the alternator and turbo installed. I already had my turbo off so all I did was take the alternator off. Afterwards, just unbolted the mounts from the block, swapped the mount and reinstalled. It was actually a lot easier than I though it was going to be. Afterwards, my trans mount lined up perfectly.
It may just be me but I swear it looks like cusco mounts move the engine forward a little bit compared to the nismo. But that would be impossible I guess since the trans mount wouldn't line up if it did move it.

well just look to see which mount is where. The smaller mount of the two should be on the driver side. If it isn't then thats your problem.
And trust me, there is no way you will be able to get it in like it is now. The cusco mounts are super stiff. The only way I can think of doing it is bolting the trans mount on first and then pry on the mounts till it goes in the slot. It's a pain and I know because thats what I did initially when I didn't know which side they went on. I was wondering why they were so hard to install.
Trust me, swapping the mounts is 10x easier.

will do...its strange cuz when i took the mounts off i matched em to the cusco ones so i was sure they were the right way even the what i guess are heat shields fit except for one. but ill check it out when i get home and i bet you are right. in ur post i read the guide pin on the bottom of one is on the drivers side and im pretty sure i remember seeing that on the pax side when i was under the car last week messing with the starter...which is my next mess i got my self into...but that you very much. i just hope i can get to it with the turbo in place...alt im taking out again anyway....sigh....

That happens with the CUSCO mounts, I cross slotted my my trannt crossmember so that the engine mount would be put back at ease and able to do its job.
