Are there any advantages/disadvantages if you're using an A/T ecu in a M/T?

No Speed and rev limiter, fuel cut-off and governor.
Run the auto one; it runs just fine.

yea, auto has better map. only downside is you get CEL and idle drops to stall every now and then if you dont give it a little gas at start up.

im assuming ur talkin about s14s?
cuz i dont get CEL or idle drops to stall... maybe when im using AC, brake pedal, headlights, defroster are all on at the same time, but i dont think thats the same problem...
the fuel mapping or whatever the fine ECU tuning is little different between the s13 manual and auto ECUs

You only get CEL on a S14 OBDII . You will not get it on a OBDI car. The idle does drop but not to stall that is a gross over exaggeration of the drop. It usually bumps to about 300 rpm over stock idle and then drops back. If its dropping to a stall point you have other problems as well.
Using a Automatic ECU on a 5 speed swapped S13 or on any S13 is a little stealth upgrade. Like what was said above it raises the rev limit, eliminates the speed cut and has a slightly different timing curve and fuel map. This is due to having to push a Torque converter. Hence why it turns into a performance upgrade for 5 speed cars.
I always leave the auto ecu in on 5 speed swaps on S13 because of this.

just curious...
never heard of this before...

RMS13: WHA!? This is very well know for tranny swaps bro!
And its only a 300rpm difference

only the speed limiter n fuel map difference...
but now i do...

does this also increase the rev limiter in s14's or does it completely remove it?

lol.. man. This info is so ooolllddd.
Seriously! you guys are just now talking about this?
Most of us have known about this for days, now everyone is going to jack up their fucking prices on auto ecus, when they were practically giving em away.
fuck and right when I do my DOHC swap too.

I switched auto ECU and manual ECU back and forth several times after I did the manual swap on my s13. I wanted to see which one fits better. Surprisingly, it was auto ECU. It's hard to tell, but something was not right with manual ECU. Most of all, I couldn't pass emission with manual ECU. I switched back to auto ECU and passed. Does this make sense? Anyway, I still have manual ECU just in case.

I always heard that keeping the auto ECU when you swapped your 5-speed meant you'd get a CEL...unless your pulling out the bulb isn't that an automatic fail for any emissions type testing?
I'm scared of the thought of no rev-limiter. One bad downshift and is my engine done? lol
!Zar!

No speed cut.
It still has a rev-limiter.
I ran an auto ecu on my kat setup and was bouncing off that bitch for days.

You will get a CEL on an OBD1 S14 too.

the only thing i did notice happening when i installed a KA24DE Auto ECU on my 92 coupe M/T was the high idle. Even after playing w/ the IACV, it still idled high. That and poor MPG and of course, the check engine light stayed on the whole time. Rev-limit is still the same... fuel cuts at close to 115 mph... so it didn't work for me. But if anyone wants to try it, you can have my auto ecu for $20. I feel that this myth is busted.

Is the # 3D on your ECU?
