Hey well i know you cant really say a 240sx is oldschool because its still a newer car, but im into old 240z's, 510's, etc etc type of cars. And when i as going to do the 240Z project it was going to be all oldschool look to it.
So does anybody have any old school ideas, and looks for the 240sx? im open to ideas.. i really cant think of anything. Pics would be awesome!
Thanks
Mike

My idea of an old school 240 would be:

A two-ton s13 coupe with silvia s13 headlights. CA18DET. Fender flares (similar to Richard Tang's). Some mesh 15" or 16" inch wheels, or some Watanabe 8 Spokes.

Thats my old school look, but anything will work old school, IMO cheap high quality used parts make up a good old school cars.

Old skool is kind of a way of saying your cheap, cuz to the naked eye it looks like a beater.

damn straight, do the 240Z conversion.

actually to keep it "old school" just stay away from flashy or shiny things like bodykits, chrome, huge FMICs

go here and check out which cars look "old school" to you. and use that as a guide for your own personal tastes. http://www.kaizousha.com/P01_2.asp

Since I feel the need to hijack another thread today,

KiDyNomiTe: the pic in your sig is off of the cover of the FSM, correct? My FSM for the 89 has a similar pic but does not have the vent under the driver side, where the SMIC is. Is that a Nissan option? cause I have been looking for something like that for a while. see pic:

get rid of the side mirrors and put smaller ones on the fenders, thats super old school. i wonder what it would look like.

I think that pic is from the cover of the euro 200SX FSM. You couldn't get that hole without an intercooler.

That's the most stock zenki 180SX I've ever seen!

im thinking black fender mirrors, bolt on fender flares painted black, Lip rear spoiler, some type of old school rims, and maybe the 180sx type x front bumper.

yup its off the euro 200sx (CA18 powered) FSM. Juss colored it close to my cars color and made the signal lights orange. I might try to draw a front lip on so it looks exactly like mine - minus the intercooler hole thing, and the fogs.

I love the old school look. I'm going with Kid on the looks. I'm not too sure about fender flares though. Two tones are definatley sweet, but unfortunately I own a fastback.

Anybody know what wheels those are? I like 'em

you want more old school than an S13 try an S12. no thats old school. the S12 just screams 1980's the same way the AE86s do (they do look similar).

do an S12 with a CA18DET(its no harder than putting a DET into an S13) some of those old school meshes and a 2 tone paint job.

or you can do what a friend of mine is doing with an S12 (this friend owns the only import shop in cheyenne, WY). hes going to put a VG30ET into his 86 S12 (the engine out of the USDM Z31 turbos)

damn that 240z conversion looks [email protected] i have never seen that before, much less heard of it

does it involve a custom work or is it straight up bolt on (fat chance:()?

the best way to do it would be fender mirrors and a ca18det

Check this thread out for a few pics of some two tones... yum yum yellow (http://www.zilvia.net/f/showthread.php?s=&threadid=25312&highlight=two+tone)
There are probably a lot more on this forum, but you can search for 'em if you like.

As for the 240z coversion. It is totally a custom thing. Does look pretty nice and strange all at the same time!

Wow. That is pretty sweet. Where did you find that pic at? I really like the styling of 200sx's but I remember reading somewhere that they really didn't handle as well as S13's and so on do b/c of there rear suspension (i might be wrong)

that 240z conversion is completely badazz. a classic yet new age kinda look. hmm...i see a crazy conversion later down the road of life.:D that celica conversion also looks suprisingly good. i dont think it would look right on a fastback though.

a couple of things for oldschool:
1) some meshies, wantanabes, panas, old ass ssr's. pretty much anything small, lightweight and with a nice lip
2) like stated, flares could maybe help. keep em black though no matter what color. kinda resemble old datsuns and toyotas
3) simple front lip or front bumper. i would think a nice clean and simple bumper with a large opening would be nice. of course a nice big fmic(nitekids dont even think about saying crap about this. i read that thread:rolleyes: ). leave the sides and backs stock. no skirts or valance. just the low front.
4) fender mirrors or jgtc style mirrors could add to this. leave em black though.
5) no spoiler or small one(maybe one like on old camaro's and datsuns.

this is all just my 2cents. i could go on forever but i wont.:)

p.s.
6) slammed like a strippers butt on my lap at a boobie bar:D

we only ever got the weaksauce FJ20DET motor here, not the CA18DET. The VG30 is arguably the best USDM S12 motor, but it's boring... :p

but JDM TiTe is only a swap away...

*cough* CA18ET.

The FJ20 is one of the nicest engines Nissan ever built. It's antiquated now, but it's way cool.

I found both that and the 240Z conversion pic while I was pillaging the internet for pictures from this year's Tokyo Auto Salon.

I will try to track down the page I found it from so you can email the owner, but your best bet would be to talk to people who went and ask if they remember seeing it.

what about that nismo/GT3/NASPORT 44mm carb conversion? wouldn't that be about as old school as you could get?

i used to have an 83 gti with a twin weber carbed 2.1 liter (overbored) 16v engine. it was a serious pain in the ass to keep in tune because it was a ****ty install job (i bought it in 'basketcase' state), but when it was dialed in it RIPPED. like 0-60 in under 5 seconds RIPPED :D

for some reason, i'm strangely drawn to this conversion...i'd almost be more apt to do this than an engine swap actually.

I lied in my above post, the S30/180SX conversion wasn't at TAS it was at the Osaka Auto Messe. I stole the pic from here (http://forums.freshalloy.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=UBB7&Number=67284657&Forum=All_Forums&Words=osaka%20auto%20messe&Match=Entire%20Phrase&Searchpage=0&Limit=25&Old=allposts&Main=67284657&Search=true#Post67284657) and there are more in his imagestation gallery here (http://www.imagestation.com/album/pictures.html?show_all=0&id=4290697709&start=1)

If you look at this page here (http://taiki4.envi.osakafu-u.ac.jp/cont/ob/ueyama/MySkyline/auto03/auto-2003-2.html) it seems to say the conversion is by JASC ? if babblefish translated it right.

I searched all over for the celica conversion pics, but couldn't find anything, it must be from one of the smaller auto shows around the time of the TAS too.

just correcting my misinfo
