As ugly, repulsive, ricey, slow etc. as my car maybe. It draws way too much attention not to have an car alarm. What do you suggest?

I like my compustar :) turbo timer autostart built in. good stuff. neat little display on the keychain. chicks dig it.

I have a crimestopper FM 2-way pager style, it RULES :)
turbo timer, remote start etc... my HKS TT is way better for that tho ;)

Don't like the kit, look at the lines from the end of the front to the beginning of hte side skirts... no flow there at all. Too wide at the base of the front... no continuity... like throwing a big ricey invader kit on a car w/o ANY side skirts or other kit parts. but that's just IMHO

i like the sideskirts and rear bumper, but not the front bumper. too many holes and it doesn't match the sideskirts, no flow.

on the topic of alarms...

the previous owner installed an alarm on my car. The problem is it only came with one remote. I just broke that said remote. Well, not completely broken, it still works but the shell thingy is cracked.

does anyone know if remotes can be replaced? i don't know what kind of alarm it is, but it does say KARR on my remote... grrr...

It looks like it needs a FMIC otherwise theres a lot of open space there.

NiteKids

Looks like it needs one?

Why is it these days everyone uses a FMIC simply as a fashion statement? Often times using a FMIC with a stock turbo causes more lag.

"I look cool but I got a pHaT fRoNt MoUnT yO"

Not saying they are always bad but people wanting them just for the looks even if it does not benifit them.

DuffMan

Well it looks like its designed for one. Unless giant chicken wire rectangles are your thing.

And a stock turboed SR does benefit from one at anything more than stock boost because of all the heat produced by such an inefficient turbo.

If you want security, get clifford. f**K the other ****.

The quality of an alarm system depends more on the install than the brand.

My $65 crimestopper alarm accomplishes the same thing as the clifford in my other car does.

Didn't you just mock the people who put in FMICs to look cool??

So you put in a grill because people kept asking? Thats what it sounds like.

NiteKids

Uh. Did you just learn to read? "I took it out"

That's the grill that came with the bumper

I am mocking the people that have minimal engine mods not to mention lacks turbo but just simply want a FMIC because "it LoOkS TyTe yO"

As opposed to putting on rims, a body kit, and a wing instead?! Oh wait, I forgot you got wide rims for more rubber for that extremely powerful engine. And don't try to say "that was then, this is now. I'm trying to set up for performance" because you just bought another bumper and because the one you REALLY want isn't available yet.

Stop whoring and stop being a hypocrite.

Do you enjoy talking out your ass?

The handling improvement of wider rims w/ wider tires does not need high hp to be felt. Sure if I was a drag racer it wouldn't help me awhole lot.

Hmm. I was unaware aftermarket wheels screams high performance. Hmm. I guess I bought wheels for all the wrong reasons. Better brake cooling due to design that allows more air flow to the brakes, brake upgrade clearence (which clears nicely by the way), future coilover clerence, and wider contact path for better handling. Oh yeah I almost forgot. Better apearence. Dang how did I forget that one even though that's what most people buy wheels for.

You don't see me with 100 stickers going down the side of my car do you claiming to have all sorts of performance parts do you? Sure I had the 5zigen banner but I took that off. But that didjn't really scream out performance either. Most people reconize it as a wheel company more then their eigine parts.

*crap gotta go pee!

NiteKids

*ah that's better

But anyways as I way saying. The point of this post was people wanting a FMIC simply for the look and not for the physics behind it.

Sure some this crap thrown on the car gives it a false apearence of high performence but does any of it really give a false sense of high hp number like a FMIC?

DuffMan

Actually I wish I didn't have to get a FMIC. The attention from cops, theives, punks ect. isn't really wanted.

But I will have to anyway because I wont be getting a clip and 89-90 bumpers wouldnt give any air to a side mount anyways.

NiteKids
04-25-2003, 08:22 PM
that's why you buy a R33 GTR intercooler. It's black!

DuffMan
04-25-2003, 08:25 PM
True. Or maybe i could just figure out how to paint it black in a way that wouldn't affect air flow. There was a thread on FA on that a while back. Time to search!

Newbies take note. :D

Or you could run a Top Mount Intercooler, but you would need a new hood for that. Less attention by cops that way though.

DuffMan

Yeah, except with a top mount, it pretty much has to be in front of the engine, becuast there's not enough room on top of the engine. I think some black radiator paint on a front mount might make "stealthy" enough.
