Shit some of those questions are different for every state. Pedestrians in CA ALWAYS HAVE THE RIGHT OF WAY. Cross walks or no cross walks. And school zones...shit changes depending on where you at. Ive seen them go as low as 5 mph. Headlight thing got me too, I would just keep driving with my high beams. I got a damn 67%

many things on these test are the "legal" thing to do. however it doesnt mean that people actually follow it. take "modifying cars" any one little tiny mod to any of our cars is technically illegal. and am i going to listen.....no.

I did shitty, but at least I erred on the side of being a pussy. I gor the light one wrong, I said that peds have the right of way at all times(what the fuck, I thought that whenever you hit a person it was your fault?), and the implied consent law one, which doesn't matter cause I'm not old enough to drink anyways.

I still think I'm a good driver.

Well, I suck at telling who has right-away apparently. Same score. Missed the Red Car/Green Car, Parking Near a Stop Sign, and the Accidents caused by Alcohol. Sad that you can only miss 3 questions before dropping down to a 78%.

P.S. Pedestrians always have the right away in Indiana. Only been 1.5 years since I took driver's education.

The thing about it, is the internet is all over the world, traffic laws differ from place to place.

In Cali pedestrians have the right of way no matter where they are.

Even if they're jay walking, even if they're crossing when they're not supposed to.

I'm not saying it's smart, but whatever.

I got a 74%

DreamN
08-20-2009, 06:51 PM
In California pedestrians do not "always have the right away". We are just taught to yield the right of way to them everywhere, but it's complete bullshit as this is the main reason why every jackass and their grandmother jaywalks. Also, another reason why so many pedestrians get hit is because one idiot yields for them while another driver in a different lane does not. You are not to yield to any pedestrian crossing a highway or roadway if there is no designated crosswalk as it is potentionally hazardous.

21950. (a) The driver of a vehicle shall yield the right-of-way to a pedestrian crossing the roadway within any marked crosswalk or within any unmarked crosswalk at an intersection

21953. Whenever any pedestrian crosses a roadway other than by means of a pedestrian tunnel or overhead pedestrian crossing, if a pedestrian tunnel or overhead crossing serves the place where the pedestrian is crossing the roadway, such pedestrian shall yield the right-of-way to all vehicles on the highway so near as to constitute an immediate hazard.

21954. (a) Every pedestrian upon a roadway at any point other than within a marked crosswalk or within an unmarked crosswalk at an intersection shall yield the right-of-way to all vehicles upon the roadway so near as to constitute an immediate hazard.

Just because they don't legally have the right way it doesn't give you the right to smash into them. As a driver you are to be aware of your surroundings, be courteous, and most of all be safe.

Seriously, everyone who keeps complaining about the POSTED speed limits at schools around them...

The question CLEARLY stated, what is the speed limit UNLESS OTHERWISE POSTED in a school zone. Meaning, if there isn't a sign telling different, then the speed limit is 20mph. Obviously they don't expect you to drive 20mph if there is a sign there that says 25mph. :duh:

from CA DMV handbook
http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/hdbk/speed_limits.htm

Around children:
Within 500 feet of a school while children are outside or crossing the street, the speed limit is 25 mph, unless otherwise posted. Also, if the school ground has no fence and children are outside, never drive faster than 25 mph. Always drive more carefully near schools, playgrounds, parks, and residential areas because children may suddenly dart into the street.

Near schools, look for:

•Bicyclists and pedestrians.
•School safety patrols or school crossing guards and obey their directions. For the crossing guard’s safety, allow him or her to safely get to the side of the road before driving ahead.
•Stopped school buses and children crossing the street. Some school buses flash yellow lights when preparing to stop and let children off the bus. The yellow flashing lights warn you to slow down and prepare to stop. When the bus flashes red lights (located at the top front and back of the bus), you must stop from either direction until the children are safely across the street and the lights stop flashing. The law requires you to remain stopped as long as the red lights are flashing (VC §22454). If you fail to stop, you may be fined up to $1000 and your driving privilege could be suspended for one year. If the school bus is on the other side of a divided or multilane (two or more lanes in each direction) highway, you do not need to stop.
